With all the great places to eat in Door County, it gets a little difficult to find some good Asian foods. Lucky enough, our annual family dinner at Helsinki's changed that. While I'm a big fan of their crepes, I was excited to hear/try their new dish of Kimchi Beef. Even served with the traditional chop sticks and sticky rice, the entire dish was a delight. Finally getting to have some amazing Asian fusion with the Door County atmosphere definitely made the dinner worthwhile.
All the dishes our family tried were phenomenal and we had an amazing night of sharing and eating our dishes. Also would recommend their Sparkling wine selection.

One of the surprises of Fish Creek. We usually avoid this area due to crowds, but Mr. Helsinki's is worth the hassle. The food was exceptional as was the service. Thai spinach soup was very good. Shrimp and Chicken Potstickers were incredible. The halibut in a spicy Thai sauces was a steak cut (not my favorite) but still very good. The Korean beef with kim chee and rice (minus the beef, as requested) was very spicy and good. Topped it off with a salted caramel crepe. AWESOME!! Donna, our waitress, was attentive and full of information about the food. We recognized her from another, now closed restaurant, and had a really nice time talking with her throughout dinner.

We stopped here while on our honeymoon because of the lure of something different. I have to say, the asparagus and salmon crepe was great. However, I give this an average rating (maybe should even be poor) because our waitress was extremely pretentious, food took a long time and arrived at the table only moderately warm and the signature chicken dish which my husband ordered had way too much sauce that it drowned all the flavors. Our waitress kept trying to talk us into ordering more food and then scoffed and rolled her eyes when we ordered only water. We had been out on the lake and biking all day so we simply needed re-hydrated and didn't appreciate the disrespect. Honestly, while the one part of our meal was good, this restaurant was really the only disappointing stop on our trip.

This was our "fancy" dinner choice in Door County, and we're glad we picked it. We were ready for something a bit more sophisticated, and Mr. Helsinki delivered. The menu is pleasantly creative. The Thai Spinach Soup was uniquely tasty with a bit of heat. The Bang Bang Chicken, also Thai-influenced, was hearty and flavorful with a nice smoky undertone. The Spinach and Shitake crepe was more delicate and just as delicious. The wine list was well-chosen. We'll be sure to save room for the dessert crepes next time. The prices were actually a bit lower than you'd pay for the same kind of menu in the big cities. Our server was just right -- helpful and not pushy. Mr. Helsinki is a perfect choice for "date night" if you're just a little adventurous. And if you're not, I imagine their grass-fed burgers are good too.

Title says it all. I thought the prices were even higher than nearby restaurants and the food was nothing special. Disappointed and I would not return.
