Party of four adults and a two year old. Saturday night and this place was rocking in a quiet shopping mall on the fringe border of Charles Town. Very exuberant staff and quickly offering help with any of the menu offerings which was quite large. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we all were impressed and will definitely come back when driving through Charles Town area. We tried a selection of fajitas, burritos, tacos and black bean soup. All the dishes were excellent with steak, shrimp and chicken served hot and mild with spices. The waiter told us that if you prefer a spicier dish they were willing to accomodate. Their large margaritas at $7.95 are an absolute bargain served in a very large bowl. We were full at the end of the meal and didn't have room for their desserts. The dining room is nicely decorated with booths along the sides and multiple table seating in the center. There are two TV screens tuned to Spanish language programs and there was enough activity (birthday parties) that it kept even the young one entertained. Plenty to choose from on the menu, good food at very reasonable prices and very friendly staff to make you feel at home.

You wouldn’t expect good Mexican food in small town Charles Town, but these folks deliver!
Great local Mexican food and the staff really aims to please. One of our favorite local restaurants.

We first dined here eight years ago on a job-related trip; it was good enough in our memories to revisit for dinner last night.

The place is cute and festive enough to cause one to forget it's in a drab strip mall, and there was a palpable buzz at the dinner hour, with hardly a table open. Points for that.

We were seated quickly in a booth (our preference) by a very nice hostess. Points.

We studied the menu, made our decisions, and then waited FOREVER for a server to come take our order. No amount of hand-waving could capture the attention of the aforementioned pleasant hostess, who was engaged in, I'm sure, a riveting conversation while standing in the aisle with another patron. Points subtracted.

FINALLY, a very stiff, standoffish young man came to our table, pad and pencil poised militarily, to take our order. Two waters, two frozen margaritas, combination #4, and arroz con pollo. Oh, and more salsa, please. With hardly a word, he dashed away. Points added for salsa (nice kick); points subtracted for personality-free server.

The margaritas arrived quickly, delivered by a much more pleasant young man, who smiled and engaged with us in just a few seconds. One sip set us free. Points added!

Shortly, the same nice young man brought our dinner and called us "amigos." More points!

Combination #4 met with approval from my husband. My arroz con pollo? The pollo was nicely grilled and flavored, albeit a little tough. The accompanying queso was too thin. There was an overly generous amount of bland arroz (which was helped by the good salsa) and only four small broccoli florets. Points subtracted.

That margarita became more delicious by the minute! Points added!

The check was delivered by Senor Standoffish with a simple, curt, "Everything okay?" He took his sweet time coming back to pick up and process our payment, so we summoned (this time successfully) that hostess, who told us we needed to take the check up front to pay. "He didn't tell you that?" she asked. Well, no, he was barely at our table a total of 60 seconds the whole night, so no, he did not offer us this bit of information. Points subtracted.

Oh, and the entire time we were there, a very sweet, I'm sure, very old and VERY off-key mariachi "singer" strolled through the dining room butchering Ricky Valens, Marty Robbins, and other famous musicians who are dead or might die if they heard him. Bless his heart. As we left the parking lot, we saw him stumbling to his vehicle, perhaps having enjoyed a margarita himself, wearing one white shoe and one black.

I give this place a "very good" for its small-town charm, good salsa, and excellent margaritas.

We have been at this restaurant several times over the past year. Although I think it is ok for food, I’ve generally had decent service.
This evening we came for a late dinner with a family of 6 (2 youngsters). We were seated promptly and our waitress took our drink order. Upon her return, she took our food order. This was basically the last time we saw her.
I was served first with two others were brought a plate of rice of beans. After about 5 minutes, their chicken and steak fajitas came out but no tortillas. Several minutes later, the rest of the family was served, but still no tortillas! We waited patiently and finally had to ask the server for the tortillas. He acted like he cared less - he was busy serving others. Finally our waitress came with the tortillas. No apologies at all.
She appeared when we were done with check in hand. She began to set it down when we asked for dessert. Again, we were not asked if we wanted anything else (no drinks were ever refilled). We could have skipped the dessert- The flan was over cooked.
Very disappointed with our visit.
