Thanks to Manito Park, this section of the city is the gem of the community. In addition to Manito, this area also offers great coffee spots (such as Rockwood Bakery), historic old homes (Rockwood Boulevard and surrounding), views of downtown (Cliff Drive), and many places to grab a glass of wine or cold beer (such as Remedy). A walk along High Drive can be a leisurely stroll or a strenuous endeavor depending on your route preference.
This is not the excitement level of downtown San Francisco, but you'll have a pleasant time at the park and touring about. You'll find an espresso stand on most every corner.
The South Hill is an adorable side of the town. Huge old homes, beautiful parks, gorgeous views of the city. Some where I would like to live.
The South Hill of Spokane is filled with the affluent neighborhoods of the past. Lush with Manito Park, Duncan Gardens huge old Maple Trees, pines, firs. You can drive through, walk through or bike through the park. There's a nice play ground for children and a lovely pond filled with ducks.
Beautiful Manito Park is on South Hill and is a must see. the trees along Rockwood Blvd is a site to see for all four seasons. Spring beautiful flowers are everywhere, summer is a profusion of beautiful trees in full leaf, fall of course the colors are magnificent and winter it looks like crystal trees.
This is one of the valley's must see gardens. It's a formal garden with well maintained displays. A fantastic walking location, and seasonal beauty year round - though winter takes a little different eye for beauty.
Driving around the South Hill neighborhood is delightful. There are so many cute houses, parks and architecture to see. There are little shops interspersed throughout. Most people in Spokane want to live here because it's so idyllic.
