Year around camping at the bowl and pitcher. We bought a new camper in January and could not wait to get out. We found the only camp site open with electric hook up. Having never been to this part of riverside park, we figured we were close enough that we could turn around and go home if needed. No need. Nice camp spots with enough space to feel like you are in the woods. There are great trails to explore and a walking bridge across the river accessing the centennial trail.
Was very quiet but we were there mid week, late fall and water was shut off. Lots of deer in the area, would stay again. They do charge a park fee too.
The week of my visit the rangers were burying a family of wolves or cyotes alive by covering their dens with rock..blocking their way out..smothering them so to be rid of them. These animals stayed away from the camping sites. Found out by way of a camp host. I mourn from that 2014 tragedy. This yr. I continue to see the distruction of this camp ground. My donation thru the Wa State licensing has been withdrawn.
The Bowl and Pitcher area of Spokane is a great place to relax, picnic, ride bikes through, or just come to walk the foot bridge to look down at the Spokane River. The best time to visit is late-spring or early-summer when the water levels are high due to spring runoff. Lots of hiking trails are nearby and the paved Centennial Trail goes right by the Bowl and Pitcher. Riverside State Park has lots of camping spots here too. Campsites are for a fee, but using the park does not cost anything. Definitely worth a stop to visit.
I brought my kids here and they loved it. The basalt formations were awesome and the hiking trails were a lot of fun and easy for family of all ages.
This is a beautiful area to view the river or walk across the bridge for a different view. Huge boulders and fall. Great walking trails.
A good place to spend the day you may see deer and other wild life.
