“awesome excursion with wildlife!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2008

This was an awesome trip...I was a little worried when reading one of the reviews. Maybe we just got lucky. We did the PS Express on Saturday, May 17 and the boat was full. It holds probably 50 people. You can seat 6 people in a booth on the boat. The captain was the owner of PS Express...and he was great & really knew his stuff. We headed off to Friday Harbor (San Juan Island). The boat has snacks, Blueberry Buckle (a cake type breakfast treat), and drinks. The weather was also beautiful but a little chilly for the deck of the boat. Along the ride to Friday Harbor we saw several groups of Orcas! It was so cool to see them...I have never seen a whale before. We followed the Orcas for about an hour and got some great pictures. Then we headed towards Friday Harbor. We arrived about 12:15 pm....we grabbed a bite to eat at the Cannery House..which had sandwiches....and they were yummy...sandwiches start at $5.95 for a half & $7.95 for a whole. Then we walked through the small market they had on Saturday. Most people were packing up..but there was some vendors to see. It looked really neat. We were recommended by a local to rent a moped to see the island as quickly as possible (we only had 2 hours at Friday Harbor). We decided to just walk around...& look through some shops. We found a hot sauce shop...which had every kind of hot sauce you could think of, along with local ones made in Washington...cool souvenir. We really couldn't do much after eating a quick lunch....just walked around the main streets & got some pictures. We hopped back on the PS Express about 2:30 pm. We traveled around Orcas and Lopez Island and also Smith Island. We saw 2 bald eagles and some seals on the way back. We got some awesome pictures of the mountains and wildlife. The trip was wonderful and worth the money! I would do it again!

“Wonderful experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2007

We took Puget Sound Express's San Juan Islands Sightseeing trip on Sunday, September 9. It was an excellent experience. We left from Port Townsend about 9 am. After an hour or hour and a half on the water, we came across several orcas. First we saw a female, then a baby, then later a male. It was amazing. We moved on a little, then came across some more. The crew on the boat provided some helpful commentary on which pod it was, and they allowed us to watch them for more than an hour.

Then we moved on to Friday Harbor, where we disembarked and had a couple hours to explore and eat lunch. Then we got back on the boat about 2:30 for the return trip. On the way back, we saw sea lions, seals, and numerous birds. It was all you could hope for in terms of wildlife viewing. We got back to Port Townsend around 5:00.

The boat itself was comfortable, and we could move inside and outside at leisure. There was food and drink for sale on board. The boat crew was friendly and helpful and professional.

I recommend this trip to anyone who is on the Olympic Peninsula and wants to get out on the water.

“P.S. Express Whale Watching Tour”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2007

My husband and I recently paid PS Express $125.00 for a Whale Watch Tour that offered a stop in Friday Harbor that could be extended to include an overnight stay at Friday Harbor which we opted for. The boat was to leave Friday Harbor some time between 2 PM - 2:30 PM for the afternoon portion of the tour but didn't leave until 3:30 PM. Because of the late arrival/departure, the boat captain went directly back to Port Townsend and didn't take the route that was advertised in their brochure...no whale watching, no eagle's nest, just full speed back to port.

We paid PS Express for a whale watching tour (we could have taken the ferry service over if we were only looking for transportation to Friday Harbor) and we feel we didn't receive the service we had paid for. I sent an email to the owner requesting a partial refund since we only had 1/2 a tour and a "quick" boat ride back to Port Townsend.

Her response to my email was: "It is unfortunate for all of us that you will leave us unhappy. Wildlife tours by their very nature have to be flexible. Ferry service, also by conditions, have time variations. You purchased from us round trip tickets spanning 2 days of service, which you were provided. Sherri PS Express"

I didn't pay for ferry service, I paid for a whale watching tour. Iknow things happen, but businesses should keep their customers happy if reasonably possible and I feel we made a reasonable request for a partial refund.

I just want to give everyone a "heads up" that you don't necessary get the service you paid for from this company.
