This is a great old hotel conveniently located in the town, but off the main drag. It needs an update on its furniture, bed linens, etc to continue to compete with the price point. We stayed on the first floor in a one bedroom suite that had window shades, however, the lights from the parking lot are very bright and on all night. The breakfast in the morning was what we had ordered, however, the bagel was very stale.

The people behind the desk were delightful and were very helpful in answering questions about the town and the hotel.

I stay here frequently for work. The staff are great, continental breakfast delivered daily in a cute basket to your door and right downtown. The only downfall the walls are thin and steep stairwell to room (no elevator). Also room I stay in has no bath. Decorated cute all in Victorian style.

We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our service and amenities during your stay at the Bishop Victorian Hotel. We do apologize for the steepness of our staircase. Our hotel is a historic Victorian building and we chose to keep the original grand staircase and not install an elevator so as to maintain its Victorian ambiance. Hearing noise through your walls can also be a concern in Victorian buildings, and we do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Further, each suite in our hotel comes with its own private bathroom featuring either a shower, regular bathtub, soaking bathtub or jetted bathtub. If you desire a suite with a bathtub, please mention this to our Innkeepers upon reserving your room and they will gladly offer you such accommodations.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and we hope to see you again soon!

I stayed at the Bishop Victorian Suites on a Wednesday and Thursday nights, and had a 1-bedroom suite on the main floor. No elevator,so if you want to avoid stairs, you need to book the 1st floor rooms, which cost more. Wonderful ambiance, room was full of comfortable furniture, and antique items, especially the wardrobe and lighting fixtures. My only complaint was the reading light was too dim to easily read by. The room comes with a continental breakfast, delivered in a basket outside my door in the morning. I really enjoyed it.

I stayed for one night on short notice and truly enjoyed my stay. The building and its furnishings are more 80's than antique or victorian in room 19. The advertising indicated that the decor was floral and it was! The wonderful service at the Bishop made up for the somewhat dated furnishings. There was a wedding on the premises the weekend that I visited so I did not get to see the garden. The location is great and the recommendations for restaurants were right on. I do not have any reservations in recommending this place to stay unless you absolutely cannot maneuver stairs.

Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel. We’re glad you had a great time and enjoyed our location and exceptional hospitality. We’re in the process of remodeling some of our rooms, so perhaps during your next visit the decorations will be more to your liking.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

The Hotel fits in with the Victorian waterfront town. They have restored the Hotel to its original beauty. It is in a great location and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I agree that the stairs are daunting but with these types of accommodations lifts are usually not an option. Loved it.
