Two things you should know about Wagner's...
1) Donuts are NOT their only specialty! Be sure to try the other bakery treats, the deli sandwiches and ESPECIALLY the cinnamon bread! (Hint: Buy a loaf of cinnamon bread and make French Toast... family will love you for it!)
2) Ask if Rudy is around and tell him "Hello" and "Thank you!" Rudy Wagner was the original founder and owner of this German-style bakery and deli sandwich shop. He would come in very morning at 4 AM to start the baking and teach his employees the "magic" of baking. His son now runs Wagner's, and Rudy is getting along in age (as are we all), but it's always a treat to talk with him when he's around.
One final note: Every year during the first or second week of December, Wagner's holds their holiday open house. Treats galore, specialty baked goods, and a chance to experience it all in the company of the warm and welcoming staff at Wagner's.
But don't take my word for it... treat yourself, your family, your coworkers or friends to a truly wonderful lunch or bakery treat - donuts, cookies, pies, cakes or any of the other magnificent bakery delight. [They make custom cakes too!]
