This trip was to evaluate the hotel for our next Christmas Lighting Festival vacation in Leavenworth. Our previous hotel of over 8 years decided to change to a reservations policy that forced us to look elsewhere for our Leavenworth home.

I have to say this one lived up to all the hype! Although small and more expensive, it was well worth it. We stayed in the Herzog room which is a "suite" that has it's own private balcony. Although the room itself is quite small, the bathroom was huge! Almost as big as the room itself. The bathroom had a nice deep jacuzzi tub although the jets were not as strong as I've experienced before, and they were very low down on the tub. The toilet is a European model which sits VERY low to the ground, and the flush is so slow as to be scary. It has a stand-up shower which was very nice as well.

The room has one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on! Feather pillows and two fantastic feather duvets which were quite cozy. The TV is miniscule, but you really aren't there to watch TV, are you??

The room also has a real fireplace and includes a ready to go pressed log to light up. There is also a smaller balcony off of the main room.

The main balcony which is off the bathroom is huge and has two very comfy looking chairs and a table. It was a little too cold in January to really enjoy it, but the view was spectacular of the mountainside.

This hotel is right next to the Festhalle in the eastern part of the main town so it's close to just about everything.

Breakfast is a traditional German style buffet with meats, cheeses, cereal, boiled eggs to order and plenty of coffee. And as a bonus, the owners are the ones serving you! Where else would you get that kind of personal service? The owners are a delightful couple and greeted us by name.... Wow! We've stayed at places for multiple years, talked to the owners and I bet they STILL wouldn't know our first names.

If you are looking for a quiet, quaint, romantic, relaxing stay in a hotel that has owners which excel in customer service, this is your place. We'll be back and have already made reservations for December, and hope to return year after year.

We spent several night here right after Christmas.... So the town was still decorated for the holidays and was this great little place. The place is well kept, the hosts are most helpful and the location is perfect for walking to all the little stores. The breakfast in the morning is perfect as you can sit, make plans for the day and the hosts can help you with that....

My wife and I got married the day after Christmas, so we usually take a few days and go somewhere over Christmas for our anniversary. This year, we spent a three days in Leavenworth and stayed at the Hotel Pension Anna. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome and at home. The hosts were helpful with finding restaurants that were open on Christmas day. We were also impressed at how clean the hotel is, especially compared to other "hotels" nearby.
The decor of the hotel is very authentic, and gives a true feeling of being in a small Bavarian inn. Our room also had a large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, which was nice after a day of cross country skiing.
The room prices are a bit high, especially in the busy season, but the quality of the hotel is far superior to most others in Leavenworth.
The Bavarian breakfast is also a nice touch, it's different than the plain continental breakfast found in most hotels.
The only thing I can think to improve is the heating system in the rooms. We stayed in December, when temperatures were in the 20s at night, and the room got quite cold. The wall heater/air conditioner unit is loud and doesn't shut off when the room reaches a certain temperature, so we heated the room up before bed and let it cool down at night. There are fire places in some rooms, and if they were converted to gas instead of wood, they would be a lot safer and give off more heat (you are only allowed to burn a single compressed sawdust fire log in the fireplace).
Overall, the hotel sticks out as one of the best in Leavenworth and is worth a stay.

This was our second stay at Solstice Spa and Suites in Leavenworth, WA. My husband and I stayed in July 2010 and we were back this past New Years weekend with another couple. The rooms were as beautiful as I remembered, huge beds, gorgeous bathroom, fireplace, sitting area, balcony, etc. My friend and I took spa treatments and shopped in the boutique. We all enjoyed the hot tub as well. The customer service was outstanding and also one of the reasons we went back. We enjoy the Leavenworth / Wenatchee area and plan on going back frequently - we won't stay anywhere else because no place else will be as nice and relaxing as Solstice!

Room Tip: There are only three rooms - suites B and C have king size beds, suite A has two large double beds but that suite also has a much bigger sitting area. Suites B and C have connecting balconies so some might consider that a plus.

Pensions in German speaking countries are akin to Bed and Breakfasts in English speaking countries. The term is described in the Wiki as a, "small, family owned" guest house. Hotel Pension Anna fits this description to a T. My wife and I have been coming to visit proprietors Gary and Michele Tebault for about five years at a rate of about once a year. Our innkeepers exude old world charm and efficiency. The place is finely appointed and authentic to a fault according to some short sighted reviews. We find it a wonderful old world experience.

Located just off the main portion of the village, Pension Anna is situated in the quite northeastern corner of downtown. Once the car or motorcycles (depending on the time of year) is parked my wife and I largely spend the rest of our stay on foot. As we are not outdoors types lounging in Pension Anna's outstanding rooms is the real treat for us. For our bi-annual Xmas get away we spring for a top of the line suites complete with fireplace and jacuzzi. This year we were in the best room in the house, the Ottman Suite.

This was a special white Xmas for us as the snow came mid day. With the fire blazing we opened gifts and generally enjoyed the beautiful peace and quiet that a cozy room and a steady snow flurry can give. With the snow abating just before after dark Xmas dinner was a short walk through fresh snow down the alley to, of all places, the fine Alley Cafe.

Breakfast is very traditional so for those looking to indulge in bacon and eggs you might be disappointed. But for those looking for the best Continental breakfast short of Austria (Anna is designed and decorated as an Austrian alpine pension) this is the place.

Soft boiled eggs constitute the hot dish. Fine, craft meats, cheese and imported breads round things out. The coffee cake is home made and the coffee is dripped micro roasted beans.

The real treat for me is to sit with Gary at breakfast and learn the latest goings on in town. I have been coming to Leavenworth since the early 1980's. Back then the town was twenty years into its theme marketing and wore it's Bavarian Village kitsch a bit thick. While Leavenworth still has campy elements, over the years the town has made great strides to add a bit of old world class to the environment. Gary and Michele are very representative of that effort.

This trip Gary described the opening of the new micro-brew pub next door in a former parking lot. A classy building it complements not only the pension but the nearby Festhalle a kitty corner away. Gary also updated me on the progress the city was making in the purchase of the last industrial facility in town, a long closed fruit packing complex. If the plans work out, the prime space only a block from Anna will provide much needed parking and will hopefully allow the town to close central Front Street to cars. Turning Front Street into a Continental styled square or "Platz" will continue to move Leavenworth further from its somewhat tacky gingerbread beginnings and continue a hoped for transformation to a world class destinational resort town.

Yes, I love the town. I love the promise the town represents in terms of Northern European heritage and I really love Hotel Pension Anna. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Price does denote value. Less expensive rooms are on ground floor or in daylight basement. Nice but not the best.
