“Your typical Average Hotel”
Reviewed 23 December 2011

My wife daughter and I stayed here on our way to see family for the Christmas holiday. The suite was large enough for the three of us and could easily accommodate another child or two, four adults would be cramped. The bathroom is of average size with the tub, toilet and sink occupying the same area. There is a small room that acts as a living room, kitchen and dining area. This room contains a microwave, small refrigerator, a table and a pullout couch. The third room had two double beds, tv dresser and a desk. The beds were quite comfortable with perfect size pillows. One thing I found quite interesting was the bedroom had a closable door on it, ideal for getting a quiet nights rest. The entire suite was clean but showed a bit of wear. The hotel itself is in a good location within easy driving distance (not walking) of Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. The breakfast came included in the room rate. It was quite good. Real egg omelette, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruit, oatmeal, grits, breads and juices. If you cannot find something to like at this breakfast, you need to move on. I liked this hotel and would probably
stay here again, it worked well for us.

Room Tip: Stay above 2nd floor.

Four of us -- two adults, two tweens, stayed at the Williamsburg Embassy Suites for a one-night weekend stay in December 2011. As this hotel was higher rated (3 1/2 stars) on most websites, and given my past experiences at other Embassy Suites, my expectations were perhaps too high. The hotel is in a good location, kind of hidden on a quiet road, but not far from the main drag or Colonial Wiliamsburg. The hotel seems older and certainly not the modern standard of other Embassy Suites.

We arrived admittedly early -- shortly after noon -- and stopped to see if a room was ready. It was not, which was fine, as check-in wasn't official until 4:00pm. That said, the Front Desk attendant offered to call us as soon as a room was ready, and she intimated that would like be "within the hour." Well, as it was, we never did get a call, and did not end up checking in until almost 10:00pm. It is a small thing, but a follow through on the call would have been appreciated.

The room was tight, by Embassy Suites standards. Otherwise, it was fine -- clean and with the expected amenities. There were not enough pillows for the sofabed, nor enough towels, but we fixed that with a visit to the Front Desk.

Most disappointing, however, was the breakfast. While not crowded, the food was still very sub-par. The muffins were stale and most of the pre-cooked items (eggs, bacon, etc.) was very overcooked. My wife gave up and asked that we stop for a "real breakfast" on our way out of town.

One final comment. Be careful in which room you are placed. We noted that at least four rooms (100-104) do not have windows that look outside; rather, they look into the indoor pool area. We were, luckily, not in one of those rooms, but I'm sure we would have asked to move if we had been, given the noise and lack of sunlight. Just a warning.

Room Tip: Avoid 100-104, because they look out onto the indoor pool.

We stayed at Embassy Suites in Willimasburg in November. This is a wonderful location to plan a vacation from, easy drive to all attractions. Colonial Parkway even in November still with quite colorful leaves. Good eats nearby. The room was a bit small by Embassy Suites standards but fit the bill for two adults and two children. Breakfast and manager's receptions always a plus, friendly staff, free parking. School groups staying there but really no big deal-it seemed thay must have been told to go for breakfast at off times which reflects good planning by hotel staff. Overall would stay again witout hesitation.

Room Tip: A/C noise did take some getting used to.

My husband, my adult daughter & I stayed in a handicapped accessible suite over Thanksgiving weekend. The layout of the suite required passing through the outer room (the sitting room with pullout sofabed) to get to the bathroom. When the bed was pulled out, it was nearly impossible to get by and the door between the rooms would not close. We had to rearrange the furniture to make it passable. We have stayed at other Embassy Suites in handicapped accessable suites where the bathroom was between the two rooms, so there wasn't a problem. Also, for a handicapped accessible suite, there should have been some sort of night lite in the bathroom.

Other than that, our stay at the Embassy Suites was fine. Kudos to the staff who were very helpful and friendly. They seemed wll prepared for the busy weekend, with plenty of seating for breakfast and for the manager's reception. .

Very nice lobby, and wine/drink reception in the evening. Traveled w/hubby and 2 adult sisters. Suite was very comfortable for all of us. Breakfast was very nice too! I can't think of a thing we didn't like about this hotel. Very close to tourist attractions.

Room Tip: away from elevators
