Description: After four years of planning and construction, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant opened in 2005 in Orland Park, a south suburb of Chicago. The concept was unique. We would create a signature menu with a selection of dishes designed to pair perfectly with our own Cooper’s Hawk wines, made in our own private winery. With sophisticated food and exceptional wines, our concept was born.

We were staying in Alexandria for our Anniversary and our youngest son, who lives in Norfolk, was in D.C. for business. He brought us to Cooper's Hawk for dinner. I had the rissoto with seafood. My wife had the risotto with chicken. My son had the rigatoni with beef. All of the meals were good. There is an extensive wine list with mostly Cooper's Hawk selections. It looks like a great watering hole for young professionals.

We visited a year ago and this was a big improvement. Service was much better. We enjoyed Jonathan as our waiter. He was outstanding. We had a decanter of CH wine. Our appetizers were the drunken shrimp and the blackened ahi tuna. We highly recommend them both. The main entree of “trio of medallions” was perfect. We made a reservation online through opentable. We requested a booth and this time we got one!!

For my second visit at Cooper's Hawk, I brought along someone with lots of food allergies. I called ahead to make sure that they would be able to find something to eat. I was told this was no problem and that they could provide a meal for my friend. However, after being seated and speaking to our waiter about the allergies and the phone call I made prior that morning he disappeared. He rarely came back to our table and when he did he said they were trying to put together a salad for the person which so far they could only give him lettuce. After that no one made any further attempts to help us. We ended up having to leave and got dinner at Chipotle - a place that could handle allergies.

Service was also attentive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We had different salads, the hummus opener, a veggie burger and buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, and several wines. The Lux Meritage could stand up to anything in its price and class. The regular cab sauv was also pretty good, and the chardonnay drinkers were less enthusiastic about their choices. Topped the meal with key lime pies, somewhat tart, and a killer chocolate cake that everyone else wanted a piece of. Service made the experience interactive but not intrusive; an excellent afternoon spent. The parking is confusing by the way, and tight. Leave some time to search - and don't walk into the Sbux by mistake!
