What beautiful pieces there are here, all on display. How I would love to take some of them home to Australia, but the ones that I really love are far too big for that. However, it is really pleasing to the eye to wander and to take in the artisanship and imagination that allows these pieces to emerge from a piece of wood.

There are heaps of quality goods for sale ranging from $ to $$$. The workshop was not in action when we visited. If one is looking for souvenirs, this is the place to buy them.

Beautiful stuff BUT if they are asking for those big pine cones 35$ (the ones you find for free at Lake Pukaki) I wonder what else is overpriced.
If you have some extra money on you worth a visit.
They also have beautiful ornaments and jewellery made of Paua shells.

After several pull-ins at hugely overpriced kauri shops, we finally found this one which is not only reasonable, but has a large selections of just about everything you can imagine in wood. There is an area where you can see objects being carved but this was not open when I was there, however I would definitely recommed it as the place to buy those kauri knick-knacks.

Very well presented and a wonderful collection of timber, jade, bone and shell artwork unfortunately no photo taking permitted. Certainly worth the stop

Worth stopping off at. The items are reasonably priced for the work that has gone into them. This shop is located right next door to the chocolate factory

These trees are amazing and massive. Although they were cut down years ago they are now protected and the wood they are using is from reclaimed trees which fell thousands of years ago. There is a staircase to the first floor carved from a trunk of wood. Amazing!
