We knew we had picked the perfect spot for our 5 night stay in Kerikeri when we drove up the shady lane to Lyness Accommodation. The 1920's house has been beautifully restored with incredible attention to detail evident everywhere. The huge garden and resident sheep add to the warm ambiance Sharon and Adrian have created. A bowl of fresh fruit and hand-made chocolates welcomed us in the Lyness Suite, along with a fireplace in the sitting area, a table overlooking the inlet, a full kitchen, and our own patio complete with barbeque. The bathroom is worth a special mention with it's huge shower, tub, and heated towel bars! Friends stayed in the room down the hall which also had it's own patio and lovely garden view. We also had a tour of the cottage tucked below the garden and directly over the inlet - great place for a longer stay.
Sharon and Adrian were a great source of information about the area and about life in New Zealand, past and present. Lyness is a short drive to the lovely town of Kerikeri and central to other sites in the Bay of Islands and Doubtful Bay. Highly recommended for an extended stay in the North Island.
