This hotel is located in a truly beautiful spot. The view from our room directly onto Scarborough Beach was unbelievably beautiful.

On arrival our first view of the hotel was scaffolding! We had no idea that renovations had been underway for a year. There was no doorman and we had to lug out suitcases up a very steep staircase into the lobby which made us very nervous because the entire lobby was encased in sheeting hanging from the ceiling. A very bored receptionist checked us into the hotel with no explanation about what was working and what was not! The lift system was not working too well and would not stop at our floor (22nd floor), so back to reception and we then went up with assistance! We continued to have issues with the lift. Fun? No...

Our room was very nice however, having just been renovated. The magnificent view just added to the experience. No bath however which was disappointing but the bathroom was fine. Have no complaints about the decor which was impressive, however the air conditioning rattled all night and kept us awake. The alternative was to turn it off, open a window and be overwhelmed by the noisy beachfront. Unfortunately the temperature hovered between 35 to 40 degrees during our 4 night stay so we needed the air conditioning.

Disappointingly our room was not vacuumed during our stay and the room although clean was not pristine!

My husband and I decided to go to the bar for a drink on our first evening only to find that the bar was a room without a view set up during renovations. Very limited drink menu too. We did not stay for a drink.

Next stop the pool bar. The pool was yet to be renovated. End of story!

This hotel could be amazing because of the location. However, having people stay during these massive renovations is ridiculous. The cost of accommodation considering is outrageous! Trying to find our way about was like being in a maze due to all the scaffolding and sheeting. Savanna's Restaurant was scruffy and simply not pleasant nor relaxing. The only saving grace was the location and the lovely room.

Room Tip: Ask for beach front room upper floor.

Unless you like looking at high scaffolding and a maze of sheets hanging from the ceiling and a cleaners trolley left out. Especially DO NOT eat at Savanha's Rest they do not have many of the items listed on their menu, the windows that would have looked onto the ocean were filthy, the room was shabby and uninviting no ambience whatsoever, in fact no other guests. Don't order the BARRAMUNDI $32 not unless you take your binoculars or you won't be able to find it no salad or fries with this price we ordered, pan fried kipler potatoes in duck fat to go with it extra $7 only to be told they don't have those either. We then ordered the cheese platter "menu reads selection of australian fine cheese quince jelly, lavish crackers, dried fruit this was served without the quince jelly when we asked where the quince jelly was, again we were told they don't have any so they gave us extra cheese, which we did not want and was left uneaten being informed before serving would have been the correct thing to do. The indian people who ran and served at the rest did aplogise when they could,nt provide what was listed on the menu but seemed to think giving you extra cheese is ok. And this was a SATURDAY night god help if you went mid week you'd probably have to cook your and still pay. This place is a big NO NO definately sub standard would not recommend and won't go there again ever so don't you, save your money there are much better places to eat around that area. This Hotel should have closed down during the renovations it reminds me of the Hotels in Bali that have work going on when your on holiday to relax but thats Bali this is AUSTRALIA.......

Room Tip: Don't choose any until the reno's are complete

My partner and I have stayed at the Rendezvous several times and have been really pleased each time. We havent stayed whilst the Hotel was under construction (like the reviewers below) and we thought the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The balcony faces the ocean which is such an amazing view. One night that we were there, there were fireworks on the beach for a small event... How romantic to sit and have a drink on the balcony watching the fireworks! One time we dined in our room and had dinner brought up which was delicious. We have also dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both were great! Only downside is, if you are looking for a bit of nightlife the area around the hotel is very quiet at night. We didnt bother paying for parking and just parked very close by at the beach parking. Overall I had a terrific stay and would definately stay again!

Staying at the hotel this very moment...not good. Rooms are newly redone and looks beautiful but the finish is cheap and low quality. For a start the shower taps are almost falling out the newly redone bathroom. Noticeable that the renovations has been done on the cheap. Then there is the window that clearly has not been cleaned in a while and the floor has not been vacuumed. The inhouse movies...$18.95!!! What the heck! And then halfway through the movie the system breaks. Housekeeping "cleaned" the room but didn't place back new clean wine & water glasses plus coffee mugs. After calling housekeeping I was handed with a coffee mug that looked like at just had coffee in it. Will I stay here again...nope :(

Overpriced. Labyrinth. Showers are great. Pool Mediocre. We had a room overlooking clean that was nice. Beach is great during day. But dangerous at night. Very little around. You are better off staying in town and driving to the beach
