We are a family of 5 so Rose Barn was a perfect size for us. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and play in the garden and paddock. The Barn itself has everything you need as you would expect from a self catering rental and you are only a couple of miles away from Bude if you need any shopping etc. This location is great if you want to see the more local sites or if, like us, you want to drive off and explore places further afield. John and Yvonne are lovely hosts and so welcoming, always happy to help if there is anything we needed. We will be back again as soon as we can. Thanks from all of us!
This is our second year staying at Rose Cottage and event though I didn't think it was possible, we loved it even more than the first time.
Apologies to all of you who feel the same, but this really does feel like our second home.
The cottage is homely, comfortable, more than fully equipped and transforms into a cosy haven at night with a lovely large fire in the log burner.
Yvonne, John and their team are just lovely and make you feel so relaxed, and quickly.
There is literally nothing I can say that would improve this place, it is just the best.
Widemouth Bay is close by and offers fantastic sun sets (weather permitting). There is a great range of restaurants along the coastal road as well as in nearby Bude.
We travelled all over during our stay with Hartland Quay, Plymouth, Falmouth and Boscastle all within easy reach.
So, the choice is yours...relax in the cottage or on the beach or get exploring.
Either way, you will not be disappointed.
The only suggestion I would make is, stay as long as you can as you won't want to leave!
Just a couple of miles out of Bude this is a spacious and well equipped cottage. there were probably enough plates to have used new ones for every meal of our two week stay. Plenty of outdoor space for BBQs but quiet and private. Friendly owners. You'll need a car to get to the beaches but if you want to stay out of the hustle of Bude this is perfect. Good local pub in nearby Maramchurch serving food and real ales.
We spent 3 nights in rose barn over the new year weekend and our friends stayed in oak, acorn and ivy. The barns were all decorated lovely and rose barn was a great place for seeing in the new year. Fab location and Yvonne was so helpful. We will definitely be returning!
My husband and I chose this property based on the pictures, the location and the reviews.
We are not disappointed on any level.
Our first contact during the experience was with Yvonne...what I can I say...she is just bloomin' wonderful. Every single message I sent beforehand was replied to within half a day and she gave us the warmest welcome on arrival...all throughout the stay, she was only a knock on the door or a phone call away if we needed her (although it was all so great we actually didn't need her)...anytime we saw her, she was always so warm and friendly...in fact, we were very sorry to say goodbye to someone who now felt like a friend!
The barn itself is just wonderful and has a lovely homely feel from the minute you open the door...lots of ooohs and aaaahhh as we walked around the property which is exactly as you see in the pics.....it has a really lovely feel and is exceptionally well equipped (every cooking utensil you could need (if you can be bothered to cook), every electrical appliance you will need and more crockery than you can shake a stick at! We did take lots with us but drove back with most of it unused. We also had a very welcome stash of milk, tea, coffee, suagr and choccie biscuits!
You obviously need to take the basic consumables so things to remember are such things as dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc but there is a Morrisons, Lidl, Sainsburys and Co-Op all in Bude, a short drive away (but far enough away to know you have rented somewhere really private).
Also, there are plenty of places as you drive around selling chopped logs for the wood burner, but if you need to find somewhere quickly, the Spar garage in Bude sells bags of them.
The location of the barn is also fantastic....it's only 2 miles from Widemouth Bay Beach which means you can have lazy days with a beach virtually on the doorstep.
The general location is great with only a short drive to Bude and very easy driving distances to beautiful places such as Hartland Quay and Boscastle...the options are endless (we always ended back up at Widemouth Bay to watch the early evening surfers).
We can highly recommend The Bay View Inn at Widemouth if you fancy eating out somewhere close...TripAdvisor is pretty up to date with eateries and places to go.
All in all I would highly recommend this as a wonderful holiday rental and will be discussing with Yvonne a return visit.
On a final note, but one you forget within the whole epxerience, Yvonne was very quick to return the deposit.
Thank you Yvonne, for everything xx
