I refer to the café only. I don’t expect to be ignored by staff because they are having a chat with one another. I also don’t expect a local to walk in behind me and be served before me. The coffee and the exhibition upstairs were both first class but the service was dire.

The management of the arts centre are trying really hard to bring a variety of high quality events to the island. The centre needs the support of the islanders otherwise we will become a cultural dessert. Meals are excellent and staff are very friendly.

Looking for an unusual way to spend New Years Eve we booked tickets to the Hot Club Hootenanny event put on by the center - We stepped back Step back in time to 1930’s Paris and danced into the New Year to the swinging gypsy jazz of Cat Skellington.
Most people had dressed to the theme which added to the atmosphere. The buffet was simply amazing - top quality food thanks to the Chef of the cafe, and oodles of it, too!
If you ever are at a lose end - this place is well worth a visit - there is always something going on and the cafe food is fabulous.
