My husband booked Ralph's Barn for a couple of nights as a mini break whilst we visited family on the Isle of Wight. We arrived mid afternoon, met the owners (who were lovely) and were shown around...Then it was all ours :0) We had the dog too who was most welcome and we spent our two days walking with her. It's a great location to do this from and would definitely recommend the walk over to The Dairyman's Daughter at Arreton barns.
The barn is cute and definitely perfect for a couple. The hot tub is fantastic and we did enjoy our stay. The barn is very clean and the garden would be fabulous in the warm sunshine. Robes are provided to get across to the hot tub house but take a pair of sliders as your regular shoes get wet! We did get to have a cream tea on the decking one afternoon which was lovely :0) . Be warned there is a neighbouring cockerel that will wake you up at dawn and beyond and there are no blackout blinds so take an eye mask if you're sensitive to the light!
I'm afraid I wouldn't describe it as superior and luxury though :0( We had no spares of anything (toilet roll, towels or tea towels) which was a shame and obviously easily fixed but using the same towel for the hot tub and then using it to dry yourself after a bath isn't great. The kitchen is not quite fully equipped but OK if you're not cooking all of your meals. The downstairs really holds the cooking smells too- I think the wood floor really holds on to it and for the duration of our stay downstairs smelled of the last persons fry up before they left! Also, the intelligent lighting is run by a computer downstairs that whirrs whilst you have it on and you can't turn the lights off if you're upstairs. The barn has a neighbour at the back who shares the driveway and it seemed whilst we were there, they were in and out at all manner of times during the night which was a little disruptive. Nothing major but I just felt it was missing something - especially when it's sold as superior luxury self catering but nothing really quite stood out to make it that way.
All in all though we had a nice comfortable break at Ralph's Barn :0)
We came here on a recommendation and what a great recommendation it was. The perfect spot for a romantic getaway with our 3 month old son and our dog. Would definitely come again and have no hesitation of recommending to others. Thanks Ralph’s Spa Barn for a wonderful weekend.
Have had two very enjoyable stays at Ralph's spa barn. Very well kept. Beautiful and peaceful location but not too far from shops and restaurants. The hot-tub is wonderful and really relaxing. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone.
We've stayed at the barn three times now (really should have written a review sooner!)
In summary: great location (peaceful, but an easy walk to town), excellent property, beautiful gardens, friendly, helpful hosts and a hot-tub!
A welcome upgrade this year was the addition of WiFi and we also noticed the new TV and fridge (so the property is well maintained and invested in).
Highly recommended. Have already booked next year.
What a lovely stay we had @ Ralph's Spa Barn. Organising the stay with Clare was easy and they were very accommodating, as we had to arrive late on the first night of our stay. The barn was cosy, modern, fully equipt for self catering and beautifully presented. The HOT TUB is an amazing addition! Perfect retreat after a cold walk along the beautiful beaches of the Isle of Wight. Thank you for the MOST relaxing break, and we will definitely be back in the summer, as the patio looked perfet for sun bathing and BBQs! Thanks Again.
