It was out first visit to Brighstone in Isle of Wight. We were looking for somewhere to have drink & possibly dinner and decided Seven was the perfect location. Its a lovely looking building located opposite a beautiful old church, lovely sun terrace out the back with lots of seating. We stayed & had a drink, enjoying the evening sunshine on the terrace outside, decided to have a look at the menus & that was enough to make the decision to stay for dinner. A vast amount of choice on the menus, the owner was very friendly & was happy to accommodate our every need. The evening was going off cold so he offered to light the open log fire inside. This open log fire is a lovely touch, really adds to the atmosphere inside. We ordered the cold meat platter to share, this was promptly brought to our table, beautifully presented on a wooden serving board with chunky bread selection. For dessert we had apple & rhubarb crumble with custard & Cheeseboard, both were delicious. We were so impressed with the high quality of food we returned in the morning to sample the full English Cooked breakfast, again great value for money, good portion sizes & perfectly cooked. The owner showed us around the B&B rooms, they were all decorated to a high standard & in my opinion good value for money, next time instead of camping we will stay here. The current owners have only owned Seven since December 2011, continue working hard all your efforts will pay off. If your visiting Isle of Wight take a drive to Brighstone & visit Seven you won't be dissapointed.

We had really nice stay. The owners were really friendly the rooms were very tastefully decorated and so clean. the food was out of this world the sun terrace was a very peaceful place to sit and have a drink.
The new owners have done wonders over the short time they have owned it and all the negative comments on here have been when the previous owner had it

Room Tip: very peacfull location. we stayed in Orchard room

while looking at the menu on the board outside the cafe we were invited in by the family who run the place, and we were glad we did.we ordered our drinks and food and while we were waiting the owners son was talking to us and informed us the family had only taken over the place 8 weeks previous.our drinks and food duly arrived and was spot on. if they still have the luxury bread and butter pudding on the menu it's well worth it, delicious.when we finished our food the owner/chef as talking to us and telling us about her plans for not only the bistro/cafe but the b&b which was in the middle of renovations.for us this was a really quiet friendly place and after only 8 weeks if this is the standard it is well worth a visit.

Of all the many years I have travelled to the IOW I have never had such misfortune in a place of accomodation. We arrived after a long drive to be told that our booking had been cancelled. Firstly it was us who supposedly had cancelled, then the previous owner, then the booking agent - absolute disaster! They then told us that there was a possibility that another couple had been double booked into our room but that they would wait and see if they turned up the following day before doing anything about it! We were then ushered into a room that was being renovated before being asked to go away for an hour or so whilst they could prepare it. There were no tea/coffee making facilities, the soap dispenser didn't work and we asked for water for the room and didn't get it until the following morning (minus any glasses to drink from!)

After returning from our walk the following day, we were told by a member of staff that a couple had arrived who were also booked into our room, and that they were now getting irate as they had been waiting a long time. We had however been assured the previous day that there were no problems with us staying in that room for the duration of our trip.

Cue hurried phonecalls to other accomodation providers on the IOW to find a room at last minute as we had to make room for the new couple. Manager more concerned about having to refresh the bedding rather than the fact they were kicking out customers. Little to no attempt to help us arrange alternative accomodation, and still expected the full tariff to paid for the night we stayed.

Made promises they couldn't keep and attempted to shift the blame so many times we lost count - from someone who travels to the Island a lot, there are much much better places to stay than this.

Apologies for the late response, we couldn't believe that you rated the location so poorly as Brighstone is one of the prettiest little villages on the island!

We're very sorry that you felt so disappointed with your stay. Unfortunately you arrived during a transition period between the old management and us, at a time when we did not intend to receive guests because we were refurbishing rooms and getting everything ready.

The previous owners informed us that all past bookings had been cancelled, but clearly they neglected to inform guests such as yourself who turned up expecting accomodation and a suitably hassle free stay. All we could do was apologise for the mistakes of the old management, and try our best to accomodate you despite the fact that our rooms were not properly prepared.

Given that the adverse circumstances were beyond our control, we feel that your comments are somewhat unjustified, but we respect your opinion and would encourage you to come back and visit us again now that we are properly set up. As you can see from more recent reviews, Seven now has an excellent reputation for not only our bed and breakfast facilities, but also for our newly refurbished bistro and coffee house.
