Went here with relatives (who are not only Swiss but live in Chateau D'Oex!) as a thank you dinner. The waitress ignored my (male) cousin trying to attract her attention to order wine (she was only clearing tables and there were only 6 other diners in the entire restaurant!). When, eventually, he stood up and went over to her he was told "I heard you but I chose to ignore you!" The food was mediocre, the wine was OK and the company was the only thing worth having. The owner was drunk, the ambience we likened to a Little Chef on the M1 and we will not be going back. I have eaten there once a few years ago and it was much better. They had better pull up their socks if they want to keep bums on seats in this rapidly declining eaterie.

Went back to the restaurant de l'hôtel de la poste. What a delightful moment spent in their garden, eating "la chasse" - see picture. The plate was generous, served with style and the taste of the marcassin and the vegetables was absolutely delicious. As an accompaniement, they served made-home sauces and relishes. It was perfect. As dessert, we had vermicelli on a meringue made by the chef (not too sweet, not to hard, melting in the mouth).

The atmosphere was warm, we were served by a smiling lady and the plates were served by an Italian gentleman full of humour.

The only small negative point: the coffee was not as good as last time, burnt and acid.

In this restaurant (13 points in the Gault-Millau) you can eat a very good food from the area and very well prepared. The good things at the right place. The garden outside is also very quiet to have dinner and every table look to be alone. Sure you have to go there. The people are nice too.

We just ate a mediocre, severely over-priced dinner at this restaurant.
First, the waiter placed us at a table near the kitchen even though there were only two other parties. We asked, and received a quieter table near a window. Then, he informed us that the rack of lamb on the 64 CHF three course menu was "sold out" due to a "tremendous" crowd earlier. I doubt that since we arrived at 8 pm to a sleepy restaurant. So, we were offered entrecôte instead of rack of lamb. Okay, I'm still game. Next, the cheapest by the glass wine at 5.50 per glass was terrible. It really should not be served. The following glass at 6.60 was far better.
The first course was snails that tasted like they came out of a can with some spinach thrown in. Pathetic.
The entrecôte was simply nothing special. Nor was the dessert featuring strawberries smothered in sugar syrup.
Oh, and thank goodness we moved tables because the kitchen sounded like they were grinding meat or pumping the sump pump all evening. All this for about $175 US. Ouch.
We had a far better experience at brasserie de l'ours a few nights ago-- better food at half the price.

Save yourself about a hundred bucks and skip this place.
