ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort

Our first time at the oliva beach hotel was wonderful! Lovely hotel, beautiful beach, 2 lovely pools to sit by and very nice food. The only couple of things I would say is that you have to put your towel out early if you want to get a lounger by the pool and also the food does get a little repetitive after a week of it. A great selection of stuff but I think we just overfilled ourselves at every meal getting our moneys worth! The desserts could be improved as for anyone who doesnt like custard/cream/blamange type desserts (me) are pretty much left with fruit or ice cream. Overall a beautiful resort with everything you need in one place. A very relaxing holiday!

Room Tip: I would advise to stay in the annex as there is a better pool there and it is slightly quieter.

This hotel is situated on the beach so perfect if you like sand, sea and even camel rides! Only 2 hotels located here and a lot of day trippers come to this beach but it's so vast there's plenty of room for everyone, there's even a nudist beach at the far end if you're into that sort of thing. Lifeguards on duty, bars on the beach, loads of sunbeds and parasols available but as the beach is outside the hotel's perimeter it's all at cost. We just returned to the hotel for lunch and drinks, bought some blow up air beds and stretched out on the sand. There was a lovely cooling breeze on the beach so we have returned all sun tanned (but with some white bits). The hotel was clean, all rooms in the main building appeared to be sea facing, ours certainly was, we left the balcony door open all night to listen to the waves, we would have liked some tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There is another part of the hotel they referred to as the "annex" that had apartments, separate pool and restaurants where the Mandarin restaurant was located (part of the all inc deal are well recommended) Food was the best we've experienced on an all inclusive deal, lots of variety, well cooked and tasty, and I didn't get my usual tummy upset which I always seem to get every time we go away so a big bonus there!, The staff were very friendly and polite and weren't waiting for tips every time they did something. Evening entertainment every night, lovely poolside tables sheltered from the wind but extremely hot in the day. Overall a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday and a place we will definitely be returning to. .

Room Tip: Rooms are not huge but adequate for two staying for a week as we did.

My wife, daughter and I (40, 39 & 10) have just returned from this hotel and I have to say it was fantastic, spotlessly clean, food was awesome, entertainment was fantastic, 2 massive swimming pools, hot tub and right on the beach.

Our accommodation was in the annex which was spacious, pleasant and we could not have wanted for more.

I have stayed in 3, 4 & 5 star hotels and this place is up there with the bets of them.

We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: All rooms were good from what we saw

We have just returned from a week at the Riu oliva beach

The location was ideal for us placed right next to the beach, however we had not expected that if you prefer to use the beach than the pool you are no longer part of the hotel and to hire 2 loungers and parasol will cost 9 euros per day. Also, whilst the beach is lovely it is badly littered when there's no need as there are bins located everywhere.

Anyway, back to the hotel:
Rooms - we were located in the main hotel (although we were told initially we were in the annexe). They are basic but spotless and comfortable. The bathroom is slightly more modern but please take your own hairdryer, the thing attached to the wall was useless and there's more power from the communal bathroom hand dryers! We expected a mini bar on an AI package, but all we were met with was an empty fridge, but this was welcoming to keep the bottled water cold which is free from reception.

Restaurants - we ate in the main hotel buffet and thought the food was varied and excellent quality. We booked both the mandarin and canarian, both great nights and the food and service was great. Make sure you book before 9am for the following day for these restaurants or you'll miss out.

Bar - service was great, Carlos looked after us most evenings and the quality of drinks were good.

Entertainment - avoided this as its not really our thing and heard mixed comments from other guests.

Staff - reception were courteous but not overly friendly. Dining staff - good. Bar - excellent.

Tips - we have been on long haul AI holidays where tipping is common practice, but I got the feeling it was not expected here. We did tip regularly but there were some who got nothing as the service just wasn't there.

Departure day - we were told by our rep that there was the possibility to extend our room, we asked on the morning we were leaving and were given an extra hour until midday, pretty useless when not being picked up until 5. A courtesy room is available, these are shower rooms located near the pool. There were no towels provided despite being told there would be, these were eventually brought in. There's no hairdryer, but there are plug points for your own. The heat in this room was unbelievable and air con needs to be added.

Overview - the hotel is not a 4 star and the reception staff at the hotel confirmed it is in fact 3 star. So for a 3 star it's great but we paid and expected 4 star, but unfortunately this was not delivered. This is something we will take up with the tour operator. This was a lovely break for us but would have been more disappointed had this been our main 2 week break.

We stayed 10 days, the staff was very welcoming and professional, they really tried to help in every possible way and made our stay pleasant. Food is ok but breakfast could be improved, some variation would be welcome. the deserts are not very qualitative. Rooms are nice and big, if you face the pool the smell from the restaurant will get in in the morning. the shows in the evening are not very qualitative, but still the audience was big. the place offers and excellent beach and sea but there is not too much in the area to do. there are are watersports zou could do, but avoid Flagbeach, they rip zour money off. Would recommend this place and I would return soon again.
