We had a lovely holiday for a week here as a family of 5 (3 children aged 6, 3 and 3). We had been to Deia a few years earlier, so knew what to expect for the location - enjoyable walks, restaurants, scenery. This house enjoys wonderful views across the valley towards the sea. It is hidden away at the end of a very narrow lane (our hired people carrier fitted without a problem - any larger than that may struggle). The house sits with a swimming pool to one side (that can easily be secured from the children), a terrace to another and a further patio and garden (where the car is parked) to the 3rd side. The 4th side backs onto the road at roof level, but we didn't hear any traffic during our stay, so noise is not a problem. Views across the valley are from the swimming pool and terrace sides. Inside, we all slept in 3 good sized double bedrooms (one set up as a twin) on the ground floor (this was our choice so we could be near the children). The bathroom and shower is on the ground floor too. On the first floor is a well sixed L-shaped lounge/dining room, with views across the garden towards Deia village and its church and also towards the valley and sea. The best room, though, is on the 2nd floor. We kept this off limits to the children as there is a large study containing numerous books etc (I feared the damage my children could cause!) and with stunning views across the valley to the sea. We sat here most evenings drinking wine and playing cards whilst the children slept downstairs. Also, there is a "master" double bedroom and ensuite shower room. The standard of the accommodation itself was basic, but clean and perfect for us. Don't expect all the latest gadgets - the kitchen is traditional farmhouse style (washing up by hand needed, no dishwasher - it gave a good excuse for me to enjoy a Rioja or two afterwards as my reward!). There is a TV and DVD player (not that it got much use), and a piano that endured my torrid attempts at playing it.
So there you have it - we definitely plan to return. We love Deia, and the children loved the 3 or so mile walk to Cala Deia (just the first hundred metres or so along the main road), the swimming pool and the trams and beach in Port de Soller (about 15 mins drive away). I should add that Jose, the owner, is very friendly and was happy to help us if ever we had a question, before and during our stay. He even kindly got some shopping in for our arrival as we arrived after the supermarket had closed.
If you want a holiday with a mix of fantastic scenery, good food, wine and walks, I thoroughly recommend you look closely at Deia and this property.
