“Great location, accomodation could easily be much improved.”

In line with most other reviews I have to say the location of the villa is perfect, 5 min walk to the harbour and 5 mins to the town. The outside area of the villa is very good, pool is great. We travelled with Best Holiday Homes and our 'rep' was very attentive and responded quickly, no issues there at all. The villa itself could have been cleaner, we ended up washing most crockery and cutlery before using. Whilst we didnt intended to do much cooking, the kitchen really is a poor show. Light bulbs misisng , making it dark and dingy, only 3 coffee mugs in a 3 bed villa. Not enough basic utensils. Around the villa little things let it down. The water from the kitchen tap is scolding and dangerous. There is nowhere to hang towels in the ensuite and no shelves to put any soaps or shower gels in the shower. It could really be made much better with a minumum of effort and money. This may all sound petty but having previously stayed in alot of villas, this was one of the more unloved ones and yet it is not at all cheap. Cala dor itself is lovely and dont get me wrong, its a nice villa, but for the price, you would expect better.

Booked this villa through Best Holiday Homes for a two week stay.
First advice is don’t book through this company.
These are our pros and cons of the villa and stay...
Pros
Excellent location
Brilliant outside space
Lovely pool
Cons
Outdated kitchen
Unsafe gas hob
No smoke alarm
Faulty safes
Extremely poor communication and customer service from best holiday homes when major problems arose
We had 8 days of constant power cuts as the electricity supply was too low for the need of the villa. We could only have one air con unit on and if we turned a light on or kettle it cut the power. Best holiday homes took 3 days to finally admit it was a problem and then it took a further 6 days to rectify the problem. We had numerous phone calls to the agent. We were given compensation (20% of the cost of 8 days stay) but this in no way compensated for the significant affect it had on our holiday.
This villa needs some attention and book through another agent if you are thinking of renting.

“Excellent location ”
Reviewed 24 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

The villa has an excellent location, being just a few minutes walk from the restaurants. There is a train stop at the end of the street and you can walk to lovely beaches in about 10 minutes. If you walk the other way down the street, you come to the marina in about 5 minutes. The great thing was, even though you are very central, you are not disturbed by noise. We sat outside every night and it was very peaceful.

The villa itself was clean and tidy but would benefit from a bit of painting and decorating here and there to brighten it up. The kitchen is tiny and outdated but served 5 of us very well when we needed to use it and the fridge was a great size.

We had a bit of an issue with ants in the kitchen and lounge but we cleaned everywhere with disinfectant and sprayed and we had no further problem. This can happen in hot countries but once on top of, they are easily controlled.

The beds were really comfortable but the pillows were not great as they went really flat when you lay on them.

The villa has great wifi and the pool area is lovely.

The man who maintained the pool and garden was lovely and really helpful.

Overall, we would recommend this villa.

“Good location, short walk to town/beach, good value”

The location of this villa is good. It's only a short walk (5-10mins) to an amazing array of restaurants as well as the Marina and Beach. The beach is quite small - so perhaps be prepared to go further afield (My suggestion: Parc Natural de Mondrago which is a bus or car drive away) when it gets busy. There decent Wifi and a nice shiney new Internet enabled TV so although the English TV channels didn't work, the kids could at least watch NetFlix.

The worst thing about the villa is the Kitchen. Nobody wants to cook on holiday, but we couldn't afford to eat out every night, so we needed to cook every other night (the Eroski supermarket just out of town is much cheaper than Spar in town). The oven and hob were dirty and the worktop was cracked in a number of places which didn't look too safe. If this was in the UK, it would have been dealt with as they'd get a number of complaints.

On arrival at the Villa, it had not been cleaned which doesn't exactly create the best first impression. However, after calling the owner this was resolved quickly and to our complete satisfaction. The pool was also cleaned mid-week.

In summary, it's a good value place to stay and if you plan on eating out every night, the Kitchen should worry you.
