Just got home from a fantastic two week holiday here!!! We to start with my review as so many positives!!
Bonaire is clean and well maintained and the cleaner of our room was amazing and we made sure to tip her.
The pools are lovely but can get slippy and we took pool shoes as the floor gets so hot and kids don't feel it on their feet when getting in and out so some got burns that would turn to cuts.
The reception staff were amazing and so helpful especially the wonderful Joanne.
Bar staff were great and Oscar really looked after us!
The food was good and lots of choice and the Italian is a must visit! We did however miss Mota this year it wasn't quite the same without him on the grill!
Entertainment team were simply amazing and I really don't know how those two amazing girls Lovely Lottie and Epic Eve kept going as there was only the two of them all day everyday! They absolutely worked their socks off and got everyone involved they really deserve some recognition from Thompson as for such a big resort to only have two Ents is ridiculous. The eve entertainment was great and we loved the reps Game shows the most and we also got to see the Take That tribute and they were fantastic and need to be there next year all the other guests agreed they were a highlight! The only negatives is I feel there needs to be more for Teens as they get bored in the eve and the teen room is a dark windowless room with an old pool table and THAT IS IT! There needs to be a better area for teens as they have to space to do this!
Also Thompson s need to up their game as they slipped this year, leaving two entertainment reps alone, no certificates only paper photocopies (gutted children as not as special adobes should receive and takes a lot to win one)! NO TOP DOG T-shirts at all either. There was no budget for pens for the daily quiz or caps for the quests when paying water polo. For a couple of days during the day there was no sound system so couldn't hear quiz or announcements.
Ridiculous Que in the morning for kids club so daughter ended up not going and no t-shirt or water bottle!!This was a £5500 family of 4 holiday and feel Thompson need to up their game!!!!
Lottie and Eve saved Thompson this year as lots of guests disappointed!!
BRING BACK LOVELY LOTTIE NEXT YEAR!!!!!!
Thomson need to be told how we all feel and hopefully they will start to take note and make changes!
It's top resort so feel Thomson have just neglected it but they need to put some money and effort into it otherwise they are going to loose Their great reputation for here and that would be a shame!!
So many people I have spoken to have noticed how things have slipped and Thompson are not giving this resort what it needs to stay at its best!
Please take note Thompson and keep Bonaire up the top!!!

Another excellent holiday in the superb resort of Cala Bona, at the wonderful Bonaire Aparthotel. I've done 6 other reviews of this place - likely to be more informative than this one, as I think I've said it all now!
Here goes:
1) the quality of the accommodation and facilities remains excellent. Protur can be justly proud of the Bonaire. It has improved since we first went in 2009, and it was very good then.
2) The Protur staff from Reception, to Bar staff, Managers, and Cleaners - first rate.
(Although, bar staff - not as cheerful as they used to be - seemed to me to be becoming slightly irritated with All Inclusive idiots, treating it like an 80's weekend in Butlins)
(Kids jumping in the pool at midnight, hysterical parents videoing it - not funny, not clever - idiots).
3) Thomson/TUI (whatever) are "dialling it in" as far as I'm concerned. The difference in the effort that they used to make to keep guests of all ages entertained, and what they do now, is huge. Not blaming the staff. Entertainers did their job well, and Kids Club staff and advisors seemed to be doing likewise. But, everything is 50% of what it used to be in terms of atmosphere and content. I can only see this trend continuing. Things are changing. TUI want you to go to their AI resorts to be entertained. The others get a token effort. More & more, Guests are organising their own content and it creates hassle and can cause issues.
4) I think it's time that the likes of myself (and the hundreds of other repeat customers) started to step aside, and let the kids take over. My daughters would be 19 & 15 if we went next year - to be fair, to TUI & Protur, the Bonaire isn't designed for us.
5) Cala Bona on the other hand - Love it, will never tire of it. Definitely going back - just where to stay?

Stayed for a week with small kids in July. The complex itself is nice, the apartment is modern but thought it a bit small. Especially the 'kitchen' area, we were AI but had a baby so had some food/drinks etc. There's no spare presses for storing food, and the press with cups, plates etc smelt of damp/musty.

Our biggest issue with the hotel was the noise around the main pool. If you want a calm holiday forget about it. From 11am until 4pm there is music blaring over loudspeakers all day, only broken by a daily quiz also over loudspeakers. Now I understand some people like these activities on holidays but having it over loudspeakers means no one can avoid it. Any hotel I've been to previously would have had activities etc but they would have been optional so people who don't wish to take part don't have to. It was so loud some days that we struggled to talk to the kids on sunbeds beside us. Thankfully the kids pool didn't have music so there was a chance to escape.

Food was hit and miss, not too bad but definitely not amazing, especially for the price we paid.
And a minor complaint but the coffee is by far the worst coffee we've ever had at a hotel! Awful! From a Nescafé self service machine, and no tea/coffee available at lunch or dinner in the restaurant.
Wasn't a fan of the AI wine but the cava was quite nice.

Enjoyed our stay here. Pool is great and evening entertainment was fun. Food is amongst the best we've had as all inclusive and was varied each night. Waiting staff are excellent and bar well manned so no waiting. Rooms were fresh and modern, cleaned 5/7 days. Usual situation with the sunbeds and not allowed to leave towels on before 7:45, so most people got there about 7:15 and occupied a bed. 1 minute walk to Cala Bona, which is a nice place and not too busy. Reception staff speak excellent English and very helpful. Car hire from reception is cheap- starts at €55 for a Panda for a day. Excursions bought at reception are cheaper than the same Thomson ones, particularly if you hire a car and drive yourselves .

Slight negatives - cheap mattresses which aren't that comfy, rubbish pillows, air con struggles a bit; no thermostatic shower taps (you can get a blast of scalding water during your shower) but these are minor.

We would recommend. Have done some other Thomson family resorts (Villa Mandi and Orqidea) and overall we'd say this is the best.

Hi

Just returned from an amazing holiday with Family and Friends. Hotel, Staff, Thomson Reps were are excellent, Thank You.

Only issue was the a/c which I found out was set at 22 degrees throughout the hotel, so changing the controllers in your room would not work only alter fan speed. They need to change this as temperatures and humidity were very high this year so got not real rest bit within the room.

We had 3 families within our party and everyone loved the place. We were SC as been before and much better value for us as we went into Cala Bona each evening.

Overall brilliant holiday Thank You
