Just come back from this excellent hotel we stayed self catering and really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is truly worth its 4 star rating. The hotel staff are very helpful and informative faultless in fact. The rooms are excellent we stayed in room 1303 block 5 which had a lovely view of the pool area.We requested a upper apartment in this block via email and thats just what we got, perfect.
This block gets sun from about midday until sunset but rooms 1204 1304 1404 has a large conifer in front partially blocking the view so try and avoid.
The only complaint we have is that when going out of reception to our room the ramp and the cobbled section of path is difficult to negotiate with a wheelchair apart from that its a brilliant place to stop especially if youve got children.

We have just returned from a week at the fabulous Protur Bonaire. This is one of the best family resort hotels we have ever stayed at. We booked this as a last minute half term break and that's exactly what we got ... a break. Our son found something to do almost all day evey day. The kids clubs and staff were amazing. He especially enjoyed the chocolate party on the last night.
The rooms are very clean and spacious with satelite TV. We didn't use the kitchen area other than to make coffee as the food in the restaurant was lovely, plentiful and there was always a good varity. We booked half board but upgraded to all inclusive for only 10 euro's per person extra per day.
I think the thing which impessed me the most was that they opened the restaurant at 5.30am on our departure day as many of us had early flights, and they wanted to ensure we could get breakfast before we left.
We will definitely be returning to the hotel next year.
All of the hotel staff were fiendly and helpful, they work so hard.

Just got back from a week at the Bonaire, first time we had stayed here and although it is primarily aimed at the younger age group we stayed with our three teenagers and overall had a great time.

Rooms - these had been refurbished and were of a high quality, air conditioned, spacious and although we stayed in the main building above the reception there was not a lot of noise through from the bar or the road outside.

Food - we stayed half board and the variety and quality of the food was superb and provided on a self service basis, on several evenings there was actually too much choice and it was all cooked to a very high standard. The restaurant staff were superb and we also booked one night at the Italian restaurant which was only available a couple of times during the week as we were at the end of the season. This was waitress service and again we had a very good evening.

Shopping - There was a really good supernmarket close by for the few essentials that you needed and the walk down to the centre of Cala Bona or Cala Millor only took 25 minutes. The beaches were really good too and a range of shops on the seafront as well as up in the town. We also went on the bus to the market in Son Severa on the Friday which was laid out in the narrow streets and had a good range of stalls.

Pools - The outdoor pools were not heated and there were two main pools with one of them more of a water park for the younger children - which I feel is a mistake and a heated pool would be good for 2013, although there was an indoor pool it did get quite busy at times.

Entertainment - this was great when provided by Thomson and particulalrly if you were under 12. but for anyone older it was only average at best, there was at best one adult activity a day and this seemed to be hit and miss. The outside acts that were brought in for the evening entertainment included one excellent act but some others that were grim - a particularly awful Robbie Williams number springs to mind. We didn't see them all as it was not that important but they were a regular topic of conversation amongst the holidaymakers. Probably need to think twice if you are going with children aged between 12 and 17 as to whether they could be bored..

Cycling - there were a range of cycle paths and we cycled up the coast and also through the resort. All the hotels in Port Verd had closed but there was a really good local restaurant on the coast road on the lhs that was also popular with the local residents - worth a visit in 2013.

Overall the hotel was superb and that was what really stood out, there was some mention of the fact that the Bonaire had been rated the top Thomson Hotel in Europe and in the top 5 worldwide which I would recognise.

we were sent to the Bonaire at the last minute as our hotel was closing, we were not sure what to expect, what a surprise,a clean comfortable very welcoming hotel in fact the best we have ever stayed in. we were on half board and the food was first class.we are pensioners but I would say it is for all members of the family and wouldn't hesitate to tell people to give it a try

Room Tip: we were in block 2 quiet and near everything

Our second visit this year. We came in March when the resort was still opening up and the food and facilities were excellent. This half term was much busier but the staff were just as helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The secret to the Bonair's success is an excellent range of activities for young children coupled with hardworking and dedicated staff. The buffet in the restaurant, especially for breakfast is out of this world and the apartments are spacious, modern and flatscreen TVs have Cbeebies and Sky Sports 1 for those who can't do without (like me!) . Cala Bona is basically a classy marina with poor beaches but there are strolls along well laid out promenades into Cala Millor and land trains or regular open top buses if you want to see more of the East Coast. If you want somewhere fun for little ones this place is perfect.
