“Great Apartment, booking company scammed me”
Reviewed 16 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

The apartment was really nice! My friends and I enjoyed staying there. If you don't mind walking a couple miles, its walking distance from the ocean as well as downtown Porto (across the bridge) and downtown Nova de Gaia (where there are more wineries, near side). Plenty of public transportation if you don't like walking too. The only complaint about the apartment itself was that even though we provided our flight arrival time to the managers several days in advance, we still had to call upon arrival at the apartment to have someone come meet us.

The apartment would be 4 stars if it weren't for the booking charge scam. The apartment is advertised as $62 a night with a $249 deposit (435 USD total for 3 nights). Well, I was charged 437 EUR instead (564 USD on my statement after conversion). Thats 129 USD more than advertised. I contacted Holiday Lettings UK (TripAdvisors booking company) and have been told by three different people that its a currency conversion charge and to contact my bank for any error. But its not a problem with my bank. Holiday Lettings are the ones that charged 437 EUR to my account when the website clearly totals up to 435 USD. Thats $105 a night, not $62. You can find somewhere closer to downtown for that price.

Management Response
17 Dec 2014
Dear Glenn,

Thank you so much for your comment. We are very sorry that you any trouble with the website you made the reservation from.

As you stated in comment, correctly, websites like FlipKey or HolidayLetting make the conversion themselves. FeelPorto only charges what is advertised and all the prices are charged in Euros and then the website makes the conversions and applies the taxes.

We hope we can receive your visit again, this time we are very pleased to make the reservations directly with you to avoid any troubles.

Kind regards,
Liliana

“Excellent apartment, but best if you have your own car”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The apartment was lovely, more than enough room for three adults and two small small children. It was spacious, well equipped and well maintained, and is a five minute walk from a big supermarket. The only reason I've not given five stars is because of the location. It is a ten minute car journey to the beach, twenty minutes to Porto city centre, and not many restaurants within reasonable walking distance, so we had to rely on taxis every time we wanted to go anywhere.
We found an excellent local Gaia taxi company - +351919468229 - who arrived every time within minutes of us phoning.
If you have your own transport, then yes I'd recommend the apartment.

Liked best: The property was exactly as it appeared on the advertisement.
Liked least: The location was not so convenient as we had no transport of our own.
Travelling group: Young Children
