Excellent hotel in superb position, fantastic view of ocean. Most of all the staff without exception were friendly polite and helpful during our 7 night stay. We eat in the restaurant 3 evenings and i had something different off the menu each time and each time food was very good. Room was very comfortable and cleaned daily by cheerful and bright cleaner. Also excellent breakfast choice
Very happy with our choice.

Room tip: We were on 3rd floor great view.

Lovely small cool hotel in a relaxing location opposite the seafront.
Linked to hotel on the hill with great views and use of facilities - so you get the best of both worlds.
Courtesy Transport to make it accessible to/ from Funchal
Good breakfasts and good restaurant
Great place to relax.

Modern decoration, tidy rooms. Small and calm hotel. Good breakfast buffet. Exceptionally, there is sea view from all the 15 rooms. Nice terrace to have drinks or even dinner if it is warm enough. No swimming pool, but the pool in the hotel Estalagem is available for free.

Great boutique hotel with extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff - only 15 rooms but a great position on the beach front. All rooms have a sea and sunset view with a Juliet balcony - but no chairs. We worried that the road in front might prove too noisy, but it only has a little local traffic and was not a problem at all.

Rooms are modern and quirky and cleaning staff were brilliant daily, getting rid of the bits of black sand that we seemed to bring back despite it being a pebble beach. Sea was warm and clean and has a breakwater on one side so no waves. Food at da Vila was modern European with a big nod to Portuguese cuisine and the chef provides plenty of choice on the menu so we could eat something different every night. The lamb and the fish were delicious, the in- house desserts fantastic and there was a really good selection of Portuguese wines at reasonable prices for UK visitors used to much higher prices at home.
Waiting staff were all brilliant and good humoured too. The manager was very accommodating and arranged transfers, day trips, free trips into Funchal and newspapers, in addition to providing lots of local info. The hotel was originally the town jail he informed us! (It is next to the existing courthouse) and the police headquarters stand imposingly on a headland over looking the hotel and the town.
Also, no extra charge for using the safe in your room (unlike many others) and free wifi everywhere in the hotel. Also beach/pool towels are provided. Guests were a mix of ages and nationalities and breakfast and dinner outside on the terrace were always sociable occasions. There is another larger hotel on the tiny seafront but it has no outside dining, so to sit eating and watching the sunset is a really lovely experience.
You can also use the facilities at the Estalagem up on the cliffs - access is a bit of a steep walk and then a lift up the hillside to a lovely outdoor pool, indoor pool, spa and treatments, Jacuzzi, honesty bar, restaurant with stunning views, sunbeds, free wifi, a library/reading room. Again, a peaceful spot with helpful staff.
Thank you Hotel da Vila.

Room tip: All rooms are good and have seafront views and good sunsets. Possibly higher rooms are better?

Very nice and cosy hotel, nicely decorated -Scandinavian style- overlooking the pebbly beach with a nice restaurant. You have access to the overflow pool at another hotel which is just at a 5-minute walk. The breakfast was nice and fresh too.

Room tip: évitez les chambres du premier étage pour plus d'intimité
