A nice and clean place to stay and explore Cinque Terre. Room is quite
specious, with big and modern shower. Windows facing opposite sides,
so there is no need in AC during nighttime.
Takes only 15 minutes to get to Levanto train station parking, which
is free with hotel pass.
You can also park on a seaside, parking price is reduced with the same
pass to 60c/hour (there are 3 round buttons on machine, press 'T' for
tariff, then press number 1, put in your coins and finally print your
Stuff is extremely friendly, good service during breakfast and dinner.
Restaurant offers dinner daily and it's extra. When order wine - ask
the price, otherwise you find it only during checkout.
We were very pleased with their homemade pasta trofie with basel sauce.
From Levanto you can take a local train to any of 5 villages; it only
takes 3-4 minutes between stops, however trains are late quite often.
Keep in mind that trail Via Amore is currently closed (July 2017)
Most likely the easiest one is from Corniglia to Vernazza (not in
another direction). The beginning is a little hilly up, but last 2/3
of walk is dawn the hill. Shouldn't take longer than 1.5-2 hours.
If you walk in the morning sun is behind your back, so it's difficult
to take a picture of Corniglia, but Vernazza is absolutely gorgeous.
Walk afternoon and your pics are good for Corniglia.
We found Monterosso more pleasant than Vernazza. Vernazza has only one
few hundred meters long main street, which is overcrowded by hundreds
of tourists. All other streets are rather narrow steps. Monterosso is
more flattened, old part of the village is very picturesque with shops
and restaurants, and there you can really walk.
We found one very nice restaurant Gastronomia San Martino. Prices are
very reasonable, and you get served by wife and husband, both cook and
serve you. They offer only 4 or 5 small tables outside, but worth the
We also tried different beaches, the most we liked was in Levanto.
Make sure you have a rubber swimming shoes (small pebbles) and your
own umbrella. Otherwise you pay 15-25 euros a day to rent umbrella
with 2 chairs. On weekend it's busy, but weekdays it's very nice
(Monterosso is always full).
