Nice menu, good food and nice ambience. Really enjoyed the service as well. Salads were very good. I would highly recommend it.

We explored all of the restaurant menus as we walked down the festive street of the Calle La Calzada before deciding where to eat. The street is always closed off for vehicle traffic so there are all sorts of unique outdoor/indoor restaurants along the way. This neighborhood is a fun place to visit in the early evening to enjoy happy hour, music, craft stalls etc. You cannot miss the Hotel Dario & its Restaurant El Tranvia. The building and setting are of gorgeous architecture. One of the best I saw. We chose to eat dinner here one evening because they have a lovely indoor open air courtyard with a water feature and offered a little quieter dining experience then eating in an outdoor cafe along the Calzada. The service was excellent and the wine, appetizer & sides were very good. We all ordered the house special of lobster which I admit as other reviewers have said was probably not a good choice. It was cooked fine but tasted just ok. Hopefully based on reviews they will change it. We probably should have gone for the steak. Dining in Granada is a great bargain so all and all we paid a very fair price for our meal. We were not looking for a "gourmet" type place. The setting though is really really beautiful and the wait staff super friendly. I'm glad we dined here for it is really a beautiful Hotel and you can't beat the ambience. After trying several different places in and around town, we decided Granada's best bets were grilled lake fish, pork or steak. We plan to visit again in the future and order something different to give it a fair shake for I'm sure it will be great
Great steak dinner. $15 US for a nice steak, mixed beans, and plantain. Great price for great quality. That was preceded by a basket of warm bread and some type of 'fry' - perhaps plantain? Delicious meal and professional, friendly service. A beautiful setting with tables inside the restaurant overlooking the street. Recommend!
We only used the restaurant for breakfasts. There was enough to choose from with especially nice breads and a very tasty yoghurt with granola option. Coffee was good and my wife was offered several options of tea. There was also an orangey Madeira cake available, I could have eaten the whole cake it was so moist and tasty. The staff were very friendly and smiley, the same ones being on duty when G&T's were ordered late in the evening, still friendly and smiley. We really felt that the staff really couldn't do enough for us, a lovely place to eat, visit.
Yes, pricier than some other local restaurants in Granada, but worth it! In the US we are used to much higher prices anyway, so to us it still seemed like a great deal to eat in so lovely a place. The food was delicious, the service perfect, and you eat at intimate tables in a courtyard, near a fountain, surrounded by tropical plants. Hard to beat! If I ever go back to Granada (and I hope I do), El Tranvia is on my list.
