It is considered as one of the shakti-peeths and hence gets in the list of must visits. The approach road was under construction and hence was time consuming. Once you reach there, you have to climb 150-200 stairs so can be little difficult for elderly people. Has a wonderful view of the mountains around. All in all a good place for people with devotion.

We experienced a magical sunrise - I highly recommend getting up early and watching the sun come up in this location! A highlight of our 3 weeks in India!

The temple itself was small but surrounded by amaizing views over rishikesh and the edges of the hymilayers. Try and go just as the sun is rising and the mountains will light up. There are a lot of stairs going upto the temple so ensure that you have a nice cup of sugary chai before you assent. You can purchase prayer flags and make offerings inside the temple.

Witnessed a beautiful sunrise at Kunjapuri temple after hiking there in the pre-dawn darkness. Breathtaking views. Loved the pooja in the temple.

Kunjapuri Devi is one of the Shakti peeths having relevance in Hinduism... People, however, can also visit this place as it is known as the Sunrise point... Drive from Tapovan takes around 1-1.5 hours in early hours of dawn. You can reach at around 5 in the morning during early summers (I visited in the first week of April) and can visit the temple along with witnessing a great sunrise from amidst the hills.. The complex has small shops that serve tea and maggi, so you can probably munch on it afterwards...

To reach the temple, you also have to climb around 100-150 stairs so be ready for a workout when you visit ;)

Was good, but hate when asked money in every corner.
Globally I did not enjoyed being in the city but the nature around was great.

Visited Kunjapuri Temple alongwith my wife and one year daughter in last week of April 2018.

Kunjapuri Temple, one of the Shaktipeeths in Garhwal Himalayas, a must visit sacred place near Rishikesh, offers beautiful sunrise view.

Located at an altitude of 1600 mts, It is around an hour; 28 kms, upward journey from Laxmanjhula. Downward journey consumes around 40-45 minutes.

Best way to visit there is by hiring a cab. One should leave Laxmanjhula by 4 - 4:15 am to enjoy the sunrise. The cab fare may range around INR 1300-1500 to and fro journey. The cab can go to the temple gate. 1-1.5 hrs is required inside.

One needs to cover around 320 steps [180+140] to reach the entrance gate which have two lions engraved. There are platforms, where one can rest in between.

We were welcomed by a breathtaking view, beautiful valley, mountains and a troop of monkeys; one should take care of belongings. It also has a colourful Shiv Murti. Morning Aarti was beautiful, a good experience. A Child was playing a drum. The Maggi and tea of the shop at the top is gud and recommended.

In nutshell, a must visit place near Rishikesh.
