“A haven for the traveller”
Reviewed 16 May 2012

I travelled and stayed here with 2 friends. We had a double room with attached bathroom. th e place was reasonably priced and excellent in terms of aesthetic, cleanliness, setting and location, and comfort.
It was sheer joy to reach there after the long hot drive from Gurgaon, and to settle into the comfy beds, the cool rooms, and wash up in their spacious and clean bathrooms.
ITs located in a well maintained and well designed modern condominium a bit away from the hustle of town, but is still a comfortable walking distance. So you get a good deal of quiet and yet are within reach of the eateries and markets and ghats of town.
Only hitch was the slow and mostly service of the manager, who would keep us waiting -right from not being there when we checked in and at other times too. but she was very helpful when present, and gave us good local tips. food i cannot comment on as we didi not order any there, but we did use their beautiful kitchen for self-service with some food we had got from market.
Overall super experience. Just dont look for pampering and service like in hotels, and have patience, dont be in a hurry.

We stayed at this guesthouse for two nights. The house was very clean and the people were very friendly. It is a bit hard to find, but if you know where Great Ganga Hotel is, you could ask around the area till you find the place. The house is near Ram Jhola Bridge which isn't as popular as Lakshman Jhola Bridge area. You can always grab a ride to the other bridge. We had a car so it was easier for us.

We had to tell them when we wanted a meal so they can prepare for us ahead of time. It is a set menu based on what they are having so you cannot choose. We had two dinners here, they were simple vegetarian meals which I thought was quite tasty.

We took the yoga classes they were offering here. They were beginner classes and we were beginners. We liked them very much.

We went to the rooftop which had a decent view of the city. It was a nice place to chill with my friends.

I really liked the place and wouldnt mind staying there again.

Don’t be fooled by the name of this place. It is neither in Rishikesh proper, (twenty-five minute walk to town) nor a boutique hotel, but the side-business of a yoga ashram. Rooms are in dorms, communal style (with shared bath and kitchen), and offer twin beds. Grounds are quiet, but you’re far from anything. Payment for your room is requested up front, as is a rs. 1,000 key deposit. The room is clean, and the beds are comfortable, and you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep. But if you’re looking for a hotel in Rishikesh, amidst the bustle, within walking distance of food and commerce, keep looking.

Every once in a while when travelling a person finds a gem – a true “home away from home”. The Ganga Vatika Boutique Guest House is a treasure to behold in the sometimes crazy and chaotic scene of Rishikesh. When every corner has an “Ashram, Guesthouse, Yoga” sign posted on it, one may become overwhelmed with options. Be assured that the hospitality, sparkling cleanliness, helpful staff and great location are standouts over most accommodation offerings in town. I love to walk and this Guesthouse is located above the Great Ganga Hotel – in a very secure compound, somewhat off the beaten track; however, it about 10 minutes of walking one finds themselves at the taxi stand located by the Ram Jhula.
Onsite morning yoga practice introduced me to a new type of yoga (Vyayama). There is also an ashram (Yogalaya Ashrama) located on the premises and I had the pleasure of meeting Master Swarmi Shankarananda who had arrived from Spain during my stay.
The rooms also offer a kitchen facility which makes meals an easy option, especially during longer stays.
Worth every rupee spent – my every need was taken care of. I highly recommend this lovely guesthouse.
