“Great hotel in perfect location with the best people”
Reviewed 31 December 2011

I stayed in Rishikesh at this hotel for almost 2 1/2 weeks and have zero complaints. In fact, everyone at the hotel went out of their way to be helpful and nice. I had an issue with the water heater in my room and was moved immediately to a higher priced room for the same price until someone wanting it (a Ganga view room) showed up, which never happened. It is one of the higher priced hotels, but you have hot water, and heat!! Heated rooms in the Himalayas are nonexistent, until I found this hotel, and after a year of grueling hours at my job in the U.S., I wanted the spirituality of India without having to rough it in a non-heated room. It's true that the rooms are higher than nearby hotels but if you checked into one of those and bought a room heater, you would still have your tariff doubled because electricity is expensive in India, so it made sense to me just to go here in the first place. Mr. Negi at the front desk was very professional and helpful, arranging my pick up from the airport in Dehra Dun, and the return trip, as well as a trip to Haridwar. The cost of the travel, as well as my meals, were settled at checkout, and I was happy with the total. For a higher-cost hotel, it was still a great value. Mr. Negi and the entire staff at Hotel Jaipur Inn were the nicest people and the food here is great :) My only complaint is that thali is not on the menu! But since it forced me to check out other restaurants whenever I had a thali attack, this also became a plus :) And for any chai lovers out there, right across the street from the hotel's front door, in an alley, is a chai stand with the best chai I've ever had in my life, and I've been all over India and Nepal for the last 15 years. I look forward to my next trip to Rishikesh and staying at this great hotel. P.S. There is wifi here too!

Hotel Jaipur Inn is very clean and comfortable. The worst part is the noise from the hotel staff early in the morning, shouting at each other, that can be heard inside the rooms. The walls and door do not keep the noise out.
Our room had a nice view of the Ganga river. It is also very close to Laxman Jhula Bridge. We stayed a few nights for Rp700 per night, then found a Rp300/night option at Hotel Surya just down the street 100m. Hotel Surya is not as clean or new but fine for longer stays.

Be very careful when it comes to reservation and payments. They will try to trick you and make you overpay. We stayed for a week and canceled the last day upon arrival but they made us pay for it. Cancellation policy is two days. They had new guests in our room that night and got paid twice.

I spent one night in Rishikesh. In December it was quite chilly when we arrived so we ruled out all hotels without heating and running hot water. Jaipur Inn was the first place we found that provided both of these facilities.
Strengths:
+The location is excellent, just next to the Laxmann Jhula bridge - many restaurants and shops around.
+The staff is rather friendly - on the first day it was average, but on the second day everyone was smiling and nice.
+All facilities worked (heating, hot water, TV).

Weaknesses:
-The room was not very clean - I found a lot of old dust on furniture near the bed.
-No bed linen was provided for the blankets.
-The room wasn't cozy at all. The furniture was old, there were some holes in the bathroom walls with electrical cables inside etc.
-The fan heater is loud, which is a inconvenient at night.

All in all - acceptable standard for travellers and backpackers - not bad at all compared to other budget places in India. Definitely I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic honeymoon.
The price is many times higher than in cheaper hostels nearby, but apart from heating and hot water there isn't much to justify it. Value for the money is very poor. In other cities you can get much more for the same price. The price is so inflated probably due to lack of competition in Rishikesh - most sleeping places in this town are very basic, so there is not much choice if you want basic "luxuries" like running hot water.
