“Excellent, charming hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed one night thanks to a Living Social deal and were delighted with this hotel. Our room was wonderful - the only hotel room I've stayed in that I'd just want to chill in and hang out for a while. Comfortable furniture, cool architecture, great bed, and a Keurig machine. Breakfast delivered early was nice too. Warm, helpful, unpretentious staff. We'd stay again.

This is one cool place. I love old buildings being re-purposed and they did an amazing job with this place. A great mix of history and modernity, and really quite plush but not in a stuffy way. We did not have an issue with the train noise as some folks on here complained of, we actually requested a room nearer to the train tracks and it was really fun watching them go thru. (If you do have an issue that way, you can ask to be put into the front building and I am sure the train noise would be less.) We will absolutely stay here next time we are in Lynchburg, really charming.

Room Tip: Back building to watch (and hear) the trains, front building if you don't want to hear as much t...

Who would have thought that Lynchburg would house such an imaginative and enjoyable place to stay. We stayed two nights over the Christmas weekend, and were delighted by the size of the room and its handsome furniture, and by the special touches, such as a small Christmas tree with lights set up on the desk, with clever (shoe-oriented, mostly) decorations to hang if we wanted to. On Christmas morning there was a little silk stocking on the door, stuffed with candy. The service was exceptionally friendly and helpful, as well. THe shoe-box provided and the continental breakfast, which will certainly hold you til you get a bigger one if you need it, are a The only negative is that the floors are thin, and you can hear sounds from another room.at times.

Room Tip: Apparently there can be noise from a passing railroad. We didn't hear it (it was Xmas weekend...

This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at, and I've travelled around the world. Gorgeously decorated, pleasant staff, and they've thought of all the extras. The free breakfast is both quaint and appreciated. Can't recommend it highly enough!

This is my fifth stay at the CTH and its as good as ever. A charming boutique hotel with large rooms. The furniture is made by Thomas A. Johnson located just down the hill. The romms can be a little noisy but the wife and I really like the sound of the trains .

Breakfast service is very limited and there is no onsite horel owned restaurant, otherwise I'd give it a 5 stars.
