“Fantastic! We wanted to stay longer.”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

This is a very different Hampton Inn, placed in a parkland setting but close to shops and fast food outlets. Part of the hotel is an old manor house, with an impressive entrance. The welcome was very friendly, with free cookies on offer. The room was large and the bed extremely comfortable. Huge TV. Quiet location, good facilities. We would certainly come again.

Room Tip: We had no complaints about our third floor room - 323.

Keep looking if your in the area. The air didn't work, I ask for fan -they said no. Tv in room and exercise room volume wouldn't raise. Overall a huge disappoint for $140 a night . I've stayed in $59/ night properties and have been more satisfied.

Room Tip: Look at the near by holiday inn express or wing ate. Both are right off I-64 & much newer.

We passed through Lexington on a cross country road trip and spent this night at this beautiful historic inn. The large rooms were recently restored with beautiful detail and modern amenities (great bathrooms!). It's a really special place with beautiful grounds, an easy walk to the nearby colleges. The only negative would be the generic breakfast.

This Hampton Inn is in a quiet, off the road, almost park-like setting on the grounds of the historic Col Alto mansion. It is a very short drive (or nice walk) to down town Lexington, with W&L University and VMI, other historic sights, restaurants and shopping. The main hotel building is old the Col Alto mansion constructed in 1827. Together with a few specially decorated hotel rooms, the reception, sitting and breakfast rooms are all in the old mansion, which is beautifully restored with its wide plank floors, high ceilings and historic ambience. There is also a modern wing of clean, quiet and comfortable hotel rooms. These rooms are not specially decorated, just the normal chain hotel decor. There are meeting rooms, an outdoor pool and an exercise room. The hotel is clean and well maintained throughout, with friendly and helpful front end staff. A very satisfying, and free, breakfast is provided. For an excellent dinner, go to Main Street and try the Southern Inn Restaurant, a favorite place for a casual atmosphere, but with an up-scale menu, a very good wine list and a full bar.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the entry doors.

We really enjoyed our stay in this historic hotel. One of the most beautiful Hampton's we've been in with a nice location within walking district of several restaurants in this beautiful town.
