I chose the Kilmarnock Inn for a mother/daughter weekend, and we weren't disappointed! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the owners and staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The owner was more than willing to give us ideas of places to see, and was informative about the area and its history. The staff quickly felt like old friends and did their best to make us feel at home.

As for the food, it was plentiful and tasty! The breakfasts, in particular, were something to look forward to each morning - and they were included with the room cost. The delicious homemade scones were an unexpected plus!

The town is small, but there are other nearby towns to explore, and a short drive leads to waterfront areas for fishing, boating, etc. And the inn itself has a beautiful courtyard to sit and relax in.

We loved every minute of our stay!

The inn is in a cute little town but not much to do in the area, unless you want to do fishing. There is some hiking in the area as well.
the rooms are ok,but no real antiques, no persian rugs, just a simple wall to wall carpet.
Overall, clean, comfortable bed, but not particularly interesting.
Overpriced for the area, the town has a tax in addition to the the state tax.
Breakfast room is nice, plenty of food but rather heavy.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Madison cottage, the most expensive room. It was ok, not as upscale as the picture...

As part of a group of six couples, we celebrate every New Year together. The host couple for 2011/12 chose for the group to stay at Kilmarnock Inn. What a fantastic choice! The accommodations were perfect. We had wonderful rooms, but the icing on the cake was the use of the gathering space equipped with TV, kitchen and plenty of furniture to comfortably accommodate our group of 12. The owner and staff could not have been nicer. They really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time. The food was incredible. There was enough going on in town to keep us as occuppied as we wished. From a local wine shop's free wine tasting on Friday night to great restaurants, antique shopping and more, our three day stay just went by too fast. Just absollutely loved this place.

My wife and I live in Boston and own a vacation rental villa in the Virgin Islands so we think we know a good place when we find one and the Kilmarnock Inn is definitely among the best! We were a little concerned about whether it would be worth the extra cost over the Holiday Inn up the road, but it certainly is (and more)! With just 16 rooms, the Kilmarnock Inn is cozy, quaint and, best of all, the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make sure you have everything you need (it was a chilly day and my lips were starting to feel chapped so I especially appreciated the lip balm among the complementary toiletries of shampoo, conditioner, etc we found awaiting us in our room).

We stayed in The Madison Room which has a magnificent 4 poster King-size bed, flat-screen TV, small refrigerator, coffeemaker, gas fireplace and -- are you ready for this -- romantic, 2 person hot tub (not one of those resort ones constantly kept filled with water which you have no idea who or what has been in before you, but a real, huge bathtub so you get to fill it with your own bath water). We especially enjoyed the full breakfast with an incredible menu of choices ranging from fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, pancakes and any kind of eggs you might like (including, our favorite, poached with, if you wish, hollandaise sauce, and even salmon, crab, ham, sausage and roasted potatoes which you certainly do not find at the usual hotel breakfast buffet). The home-made scones and biscuits were incredible.

The location of the Inn is ideal, within walking distance of all kinds of neat stores right around the corner on the main street of town. WiFi in the rooms and a fitness center down the street provided all the amenities we were looking for (and more). Excellent!
