We were visiting Washington DC for the first time and I wanted to take my wife someplace special. I read all the revues and made reservations a month before our arrival. We have dined at many Michelin starred restaurants so we know good food and recognize good service. We were not disappointed. It was a 22 mile ride by Lyft from our hotel and my wife kept asking why we had to travel so far for dinner. Believe me, it was well worth the trip. The food was outstanding from the welcoming amuse-bouche to the farewell chocolate truffles. The Alsace cooking is very similar to Everest restaurant in our hometown of Chicago and I wasn't expecting to find it Great Falls VA. We were pleasantly surprised and very impressed by this restaurant and can't recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a special meal served in a romantic setting by a great chef and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Don't think twice, just go! You won't regret it.

Simply the bestBy far the best choice for a special occasion. My personal feeling is that there is no need to order any $$ extras, the standard price fix menu is perfectly delicious!

We have been coming here for 20+ years. Especially love it at Xmas time!! Also have come for birthdays, anniversaries and for no reason. Although there was a rough patch for about a year after the owner/father died, the sons have brought it back up to the former standards and have kept it there. After one particularly bad lunch experience, we were afraid we might not want to go back, but we did. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.

I was in town visiting my son and family. He treated me to a birthday dinner at this amazing place. Even from the moment you drive in, you are transported to a French countryside. The waiters are all dressed in red vests, all very Alsatian. The original Francois has a very interesting history including being captured by the Germans in WW 1. When the Germans found out he could cook, they utilized his skills. From there, he opened a restaurant in France, then came to the DC area and eventually opened the present restaurant in the 1950s. There menu is pris fixe but both the appetizer and main course have at least 15 choices! Each one looks better than the next! From soup to fish to seafood to meat, there is something for everyone! A number of the offerings are locally sourced. First came fresh bread and house made cottage cheese that is so yummy!! The meal began with the chef's amuse bouche (the chef de cuisine happens to be Francois' son). This evening, it was a piping hot taste of a delicious, creamy lentil soup. Who knew lentils could be creamy?? So delicious! Then came the exquisite lobster bisque. Oh my! This was France in a bowl!! My son had equally fabulous French onion soup. Salad crisp and fresh followed by house made orange sherbet. We ordered rack of lamb for 2 and it was gorgeous and so perfectly executed. I wish there were another word for delicious! Beyond delicious! It had veggies, perfectly cooked complimented with a thyme/garlic sauce. The menu claimed it was seasoned with herbs de Provence and I personally would have enjoyed a touch more of that flavor (especially the lavender) but it's not a complaint for sure! Make sure you order a souffle at the beginning of the meal. Perfection served with raspberries! Yum! Simply yum! Thank you Chez Francois!!! You made this Birthday worth celebrating!!
