“A fantastic, unique house in a beautiful location”

We spent 4 nights in the windmill, and we loved it! Dimitris was a fantastic host - he met us at the property and gave us a very detailed tour of the building. His passion for the place was self-evident, as it's clearly been a lot of work for him to do it up. He gave us loads of advice for places to eat locally and sites to visit and generally made us very welcome. We had his details on WhatsApp, and was available to answer questions whenever we had them.

The building itself is very unusual, with a ground floor that encompasses the dining area, kitchen and bathroom and three bedrooms spread over the upper three floors. We found it best to think of the ground floor a bit like a boat - you don't quite have all the space you're used to, and everything has it's own place. The cooking facilities are a little limited (a small oven, one hot plate, one frying pan, one sauce pan and a kettle) - but given that there's plenty of good places to eat within a stone's throw (literally) of the building, you probably won't need to cook anything too ambitious. The bathroom/shower area is a little nook off the dining area. It's not the easiest place to wash in if you're tall (as I am), but it's good fun to try! The bedrooms are made up of one double room on the first floor (with a rather low ceiling), two adjacent single beds on the second floor (the best floor probably as it has mosquito nets) and two more adjacent single beds on the third floor (has amazing views in all directions).

Outside the building is a small terrace area that runs all the way around. There's a table and chairs that make it ideal for breakfast - and you've got amazing views to enjoy while you do!

As the building is a local landmark, you do get the occasional visit from interested tourists - so there's not a huge amount of privacy outside.

The old village where the town is located (variously seems to be called Chora, Hora or just Old Village) is very attractive. It has a number of good restaurants, a few souvenir shops, a small bakers and an ice cream shop. The small cobbled streets and alleys are enjoyable to wander around.

There is easy access to a number of beaches from the village, either driving or walking. Being at the top of the hill, the walks down are easy and enjoyable - about half an hour, but the walks up a bit more of a challenge! You can also take longer walks from the old village into the main town, either along the coast or a more direct route. We'd highly recommend both as a way to see more of the island - in peak season there are fairly regular buses that make the journey too, right until quite late in the evening.

The island overall is very enjoyable to visit. We spent some time visiting the more remote beaches using the map that was provided in the house, finding a few that had nobody else on them, which was good fun! Probably helps visiting in September when it's a little quieter.

Overall we'd highly recommend the Windmill, and Dimitris as a host. If we were to visit the island again we'd certainly stay either in the Windmill or in one of Dimitris's other properties!

“An amazing, unique holiday experience.... Perfect memories to treasure”
Reviewed 11 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

A breath taking building, full of character and charm. Most amazing views from every window, and incredible starry nights. Located in a perfect spot to access beaches, restaurants and shops. The owners were lovely, gave us lots of advice for places to eat and visit and checked we had everything we needed. The windmill was well stocked and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Would love to return again to this gorgeous place, thankyou for a wonderful holiday.

“Unforgetable place”
Reviewed 10 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We spend a fantastic time in Alonissos and especially in the Casa Milos Windmil.
The Windmil was very confortable and make us feel like living in another space&time.
The view is very nice. The Windmil is just at the entrance of the old village and very close to very good and typical restaurants, bakery, bars, with or without livemusic !

The place is very charming and special. The 360 degree view is spectacular. Great location at the entrance to the old village and close to some of the beaches. The hosts were very friendly and took great care of us.
