Our first time going and it was very good. Went on a Thursday night and there was only a couple of folks eating dinner. Fresh seafood. All you could eat crab legs. Reasonable pricing!

Now getting there at night in the rain was a different story! Winding road, crossing the railroad tracks and then the drive way is right next to the railroad tracks! So if you are going for the first time, in the rain, at night just be careful!

Great Food! Great Location on the river!

We visited during Waterstock and had a great time. Waterstock is an annual 3 or 4 day blow out with live bands, special food choices (this year was bbq), and lots of beer. Their seafood is always fresh and prepared well. The fish bites are a particular favorite and delicious. Shrimp, blue crab, and crab legs are also great. Oh, and the hush puppies are excellent. Service can be a little slow during the crush times but even then it’s pretty good. Follow your gps and have faith that there really is a restaurant at the end of the journey as it’s a ways off of the beaten path!

The day we visited Tim’s it was brutally hot and our battle with staying cool started with the parking situation. As there is no actual parking lot, customers are required to park along a gravel road either on the east or west side of the railroad tracks. Due to the amount of customers the day we visited a young gentleman was seated in a chair at the end of the paved road just before the RR crossing who informed us that there was no parking near the restaurant. As a result we parked at the small area just across from where he sat and walked the 1/4 mile to the restaurant. Please note that crossing RR tracks at any location other than at a crossing is not only dangerous, but considered trespassing on RR property and illegal. Most do it anyway but it is important to know the possible consequences with the worst being hit by a train. And on that cheery note let’s get back to the visit

Before departing for the restaurant we called ahead to inquire as to table availability. This is a wise action as we had attempted to dine here previously but were met with a 90 minute or more wait time. This day we were told that there was plenty of room so we swooped on in. Upon approaching we were met at the front door and asked if we wanted inside or outside. Hoping to get a cool breeze at the waters edge we requested the later. We were seated in an area right next to the water but no cool breeze came and we baked in the humidity. The table did have an umbrella but it was little relief. The table did have a nice view of the water and the goings on in the marina area.

Soon our lovely and friendly server Bobbi was at our table taking out drink order. I selected a mixed drink of coconut rum and grapefruit juice called the Amy Jamie. It was perfect for the setting and quite refreshing so I had two. For our meal we ordered the fried oysters and the fried seafood platter. Everything was prepared well and tasted good. The oysters were a bit over fried for my tastes but I am super picky about that. In retrospect it was way too hot of a day for all that fried food and we realized that we should have gone with some fresh crab or fish.

Tim’s seems like a great place to take a large group of friends or a bunch of coworkers. There seems to be a definite sense of a party atmosphere, especially surrounding the outside bar area. It is important to note that when I went inside to use the restroom I noticed that it was not much cooler inside so if one is Hoping to get out of the heat by sitting in the dining room just head outside and enjoy the view instead.

The cost of the meal was pretty average for the quality and quantity. The two beverages I drank of course ran the bill up a bit but nothing more than expected. Even though we baked like two cods on the broiler we did enjoy our visit and plan to return with friends, especially if it is a cooler day.

See you on the trail and please try to remember to treat with dignity and respect, all whom with you come in contact.

John Eric

This restaurant, located on the Potomac River, had excellent blue crabs and smoked shrimp. It was reasonably priced and the service was excellent. The food was cooked perfectly. It had a wide variety of seafood on the menu, and also had a land-lubber menu.
