“"Misty's" fascinating little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2011

It's a great little museum. As you walk in they give you a pencil and a list of things to "find" while you are visiting the exhibits. When finished you put your form into a bowl for a drawing of a prize e.g. a hat. The idea is to find as many things on the list as possible. Some are quite subtle and what it serves to do is get you to really look at the exhibits. The net result is that you see more and have a better experience. Very clever.

“Very Interesting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2011

Chincoteague has redone their museum. This is a great way to view past Chincoteague history, as well as learn more abot the importance of the seafood industry to the island. There was so much to see. Not at all a booring museum.

“Gain a deeper appreciation of the lives of Chincoteague's earliest settlers in this small but powerful presentation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2011

We don't often think of the early settlers of an area or their lifestyles. We don't appreciate how hard they worked to create a life for themselves and generations to come. Seafaring communities often have a varied history with multinational ancestors involved in the ordinary and the extraordinary. Stop in for a streamlined or in depth review of Chincoteague's human and non-human influences on the beauty and adventure which we have inherited! This Museum Of Chincoteague Island was formerly The Oyster and Maritime Museum.
