Description: The planned updates, designed by Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry of Atlanta, include a relocation of the main entrance and porte cochère. According to Russ Cronberg, Boar’s Head general manager, the new entrance will open into a completely reimagined lobby. “Our guests will walk into a totally transformed area filled with natural elements, bookshelves adorned with historic reference materials and updated furnishings, making it a truly unique gathering place,” he explained. Along with the lobby and entrance renovations, Johnson Studio will transform the Old Mill Room restaurant. According to Shawn Jernigan, director of food and beverage, this new space will be a carefully curated mixture of old and new. “History will still run deep in this space as we’ll have increased natural lighting that will illumiate the existing 1834 wood beams that provide a focal point for the room.” The design includes seating for 200 guests and upgrades to the porch room, with a private dining area and flexible banquet space for larger gatherings. “The marquee element of this project will be a glass-backed bar that will enliven the main restaurant seating areas, giving the space an open and airy feel,” Jernigan added. Complementing the physical changes to the restaurant will be an entirely new locally-inspired menu by Executive Chef Dale Ford, featuring dishes that evoke regional history with a modern twist. While the current Old Mill Room dining space is being renovated, the resort will continue to offer dining options to guests and the general public at its brand-new Racquets Restaurant in the Sports Club and the recently renovated Birdwood Grill inside the Birdwood Golf Course clubhouse.

Wife and I went to the Old Mill Room at the Boar's Head for dinner during restaurant week 2018. The special menu was very appealing and helped drive us to this venue for our night out. The food did not disappoint. I got the short ribs special which was exceptionally well prepared. My wife got the salmon special which she raved about. We both got the special salad - very nice presentation with the lettuce wrapped nigiri style with a cucumber slice. For desert, my wife got the flourless chocolate cake which she liked but my crème brulee was even better. Service was excellent (thanks Douglas and team). The dining setting was great - the place is about to be closed for a remodeling which concerns me a bit because they really can't make it much nicer.

So nice to have you with us during restaurant week. We are grateful to play a small part in the community by offering this menu, that benefits a local charity. The renovation of the Old Mill Room will take place during much of the 2018 calendar year, but we have several dining options on property for guests to enjoy.
Regards

Boring limited menu. Their lobster bisque was really an insult. About a tea spoon of out of date lobster meat, I had lobster bisque last week at Lambertville Station, a real joy ...half a fresh lobster tail and it was less $$$
Butterscotch panne cota has rancid and salty.
Charlottesville the worst restaurants on the east coast.

Here for the holidays. Have had two meals in the Old Mill Room so far.
Service was superb, Food was Excellent, Ambiance was an A plus, and the holiday decorations were Warm and Inviting!
Pricing for everything has been very reasonable, and more on par with nice local restaurants than your typical resort.
Highly recommend you try it, and Christmas time is an added bonus.

We always go to the Boar's Head Old Mill Room for lunch at the holidays. It is beautifully decorated. The lunch buffet is excellent and so are the menu options.

We were allocated a table right in front of the log burning fireplace on a cold December night - what could be more perfect! Like in the whole inn, the Christmas decorations were stunning. I judge the service by whether they keep my water glass filled and they scored an A+. I enjoyed the flavorful, moist whole mountain trout and my husband had the filet of beef. His was described as perfection. We both craved fresh fruit for dessert and the waitress obliged, even asking us if we’d like berries on our fruit dish to share. Washed down by a celebratory glass of champagne it was an unforgettable experience. We also had breakfast in the bright, sunny room overlooking one of the lakes. Again they kept both my water glass and my coffee cup filled. The eggwhite frittata with spinach, feta and tomato filling, garnished with asparagus was mouth watering, my husband’s typical breakfast of eggs, sausage, and potatoes was good. The ambience, service and food (albeit expensive) of the Old Mill Room was all we expected and more. We got what we paid for and hope to return.
