An amazing place, good guides, fascinating history, perfect spring day with dazzling dogwoods and tulips, and a view that never ends. So much to see and learn about, well organized and presented

“Very good tour.......but expensive!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

Beautifully maintained property. Very inspiring. I felt rushed through the house, though. And felt like we only got to see a fraction of what was there due to being rushed through. However, our tour guide was enthusiastic and looked up answers to questions she didn't know on an Ipad while on tour! Very impressive.

We had to book a tour for 2 hours after we arrived because they were all filled. So, if you can reserve a tour and buy tickets before hand, I would recommend that.

The movie was very good. The gift shop was beautiful. The grounds, the home....all in gorgeous condition.

“The reason to visit Charlottesville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

You can read about how great the house is from other reviews but I would say definitely get there as early as possible because tickets get sold like hot cakes. Sometimes you can go to an earlier tour at the top if you hang around the top and not enough people were in an earlier tour but this is no guarantee.

“Best for Adults”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

Educational. Lovely gardens and grounds. Knowledgable staff. Some of the guides seem stuffy and not child friendly. I realize the items in the home are historical, but children are inquisitive and deserve an explanation as to how things work.

“Excellent opportunity to learn about Thomas Jefferson”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

This home and museum provides an excellent insight to this president, his importance to the United States, and his diverse interests. There is a new visitors center that is excellent as well. Combine this visit with one to James Madison's home for a thorough appreciation of these pivotal presidents and their times in US history.
