The Bread and Puppet Theater at Glover is a different theater in many ways with volunteers from all over carrying the puppets made from simple but full of fantasy. The circus show on Sundays at 3 pm is a festival of colors and joy with many hints at the situation of the world and especially the US. It is different from most theaters I have seen and what came through was the joy and energy with which the performance was given.

Visit this place. It's crazy cool. The museum is well done and packed with beautiful paper mache 'puppets'. I must have taken a thousand pictures. They also have political oriented- yet beautiful- prints for sale. Yup- I'm Conservative and I even bought a few. Everyone you run into there is so charming and happy. The day we went there was a small folk band playing in the back and they were serving Moroccan Stew. Go to learn. Keep an open mind. And bring your camera!

Most of the puppets were made for events or performances that deal with Social or Political issues. The good vs bad of it all. The grotesque shapes and faces of each puppet makes it own statement. Many of the puppets will take you back to earlier issues that impacted negatively on either human life or life in general.

These "cult" shows are held every Sunday, starting July, at 3:00 PM. There are two separate shows, running consecutively, the main show held in the open air and a puppet show in one of the barns. The main "circus" is an interesting cultural experience, not to everyone's taste. Kids seem to have times of their lives, especially at the puppet show.
The museum is a must. In fact, after watching the show I realized that even if we missed it, the museum would be worth the visit.

Huge barn full of handmade puppets and displays protest and social awareness. The people working on the farm are an enlightened dedicated bunch.
