“Found by chance, Loved it!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

We were passing through Bennington and decided to stop for lunch. We turned onto Depot Street and found this place. You park in the back and the entrance is on that side as well. The place was well decorated. I kind of felt under dressed (shorts and a t-shirt), but we were welcomed in by the host. We were seated on the front side of the building in the carriage overhang area (now it is glassed in), where people used to walk into the train station. My recommendation is you request this area when/if you go. It is bright in this area.

As for the food, you can't beat the price for the amount of food you get. We each got a turkey sandwich. It took up half the plates. On the side, we got sweet potato fries and coleslaw. We each ate our fries and only half a sandwich. The other half of our sandwiches were eaten for dinner, with a side dish of vegetable (not from the restaurant). Two meals each out of one meal each. Not bad for $10 a piece.

Only downfall of this place...the service was slow...and there were only one other couple in the place at the time. They were pleasant, but slow.

“charming decor”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2012

We had dinner here recently on a slow Sunday night. The salad bar, that comes with all entrees, was not tended to very well. Most selections looked old and tired. Our main dishes were very good though. The restaurant is in an old railroad depot and is very charming. I'm glad we saw it, but I'm not sure if we'll go again.

“Horrible dining experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

Seven of us showed up for lunch while attending a funeral in Bennington. The waitress offered the lunch buffee and menus. Five of us ordered the buffee, one a salad and one a sandwich. We were on a somewhat limited time schedule due to the fact that we had to be at the funeral we were attending in 90 minutes after we arrived. The buffee was pretty empty and the waitress notified us that more food would be put out. After 40 minutes, she notified us that no more food would be put out at the buffee but that the turkey (which was one dish listed on the buffee) could be brought on a plate to the table. After an hour, the salad and sandwich never arrived. The entrees associated with the buffee never came out. We left for our funeral hungry and aggrivated. The server was pleasant and appeared embarrassed. I would also note that this was in March and the fan above the table was running on high when we arrived and it made for a windy, cold atmosphere. The buffee was not discounted to us, although the sandwich and salad were as they never arrived after over an hour. I would not recommend this restaurant.

“Great meals with plenty of food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

We stopped in for a late lunch and at at the lunch menu. I really don't know how they can sell the amount of food so cheaply. My wife had a turkey sandwich that was twice the size of what you'd get elsewhere for only a dollar or two more (with fries). I tried the eggplant parmigiana, which was excellent. Neither of us could come close to finishing, even though we were tempted.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2012

This restaurant is in an old train station, very nice inside just like you would picture an old depot looking. The menu was rather extensive and was reasonably priced. We had lunch there and it was pretty good, also took a look at the dinner menu and spoke to a local there who said that the dinners are excellent. We plan on going to dinner there when we are back in Bennington. My mother went to there mothers day brunch and said it was great!
