Where else can you go and have to stop your car for a buffalo free ranging? Best views of great Salt Lake. Very peaceful with great lookout points.
Well worth the trip.

We went here in September, 2017. Our guide was a friend who had been there many times and he was shocked that there were not more buffalo on the drive into the Garr ranch, but they were just in other areas of the park. Even without lots of buffalo, the drive to the ranch is pretty, and the walk around the ranch is interesting! We drove back north and then west and saw lots of buffalo that we took tons of pictures of, and also antelope which were fun to watch and beautiful animals! We walked out onto the "beach" to the water's edge, and it was very interesting to see the different varieties of plant life, sand, and rocks. The view was great, and some birds flew in that were fun to watch. All in all, a beautiful drive and scenery and wildlife. I know there is even more to the park, and our friend who lives in SLC goes there often.

We took an afternoon ride out to Antelope Island and it was lovely. The Great Salt Lake is beautiful to look at (although not to smell), and the surrounding landscape is equally gorgeous. We saw lots of bison and the setting sun cast amazing colors on the surface of the lake. Well worth the ride and the price of admission.

Did a sunrise hike partway up the Frary Peak Trail and were rewarded with gorgeous sunrise, the sky and surroundings changing colors by the minute. The smell that others talked about was intense but was very localized. We drove through it in about 2 minutes. Definitely worth dedicating the morning or more to seeing this natural wonderland!

If you are visiting SLC, and like to take in nature then go check out Antelope Island State Park. The drive there is beautiful as you got through a stretch to the island where you can see the salt flats.

The Island itself is great for a drive around, or you can even do some hiking or swimming.
