Owner description: A beautiful park located on the largest of the Great Salt Lakes islands; features lots of white-sand beaches, hiking and biking trails in addition to a variety of flora and fauna, including deer, bob cats, and of course, antelopes.

If you are visiting SLC, and like to take in nature then go check out Antelope Island State Park. The drive there is beautiful as you got through a stretch to the island where you can see the salt flats.

The Island itself is great for a drive around, or you can even do some hiking or swimming.

This is a great half day trip. The landscapes and view of Salt Lake are very interesting. The old ranch was worth touring. It must have been very desolate at the turn of the century.

Antelope Island State Park is a great place to view some local Animals and learn about Utah History at the Fielding Garr Ranch on the South End of the Island. The visitor center is well presented. Take your time and explore the Island.

We stopped here for a few hours while traveling from Grand Teton to Salt Lake City.

We wanted to see & experience what it was like to float/swim in the Great Salt Lake.

We arrived mid afternoon on a hot late August day (high 90's). After slathering ourselves with sunscreen & bug spray we hiked the sand until we reached the shoreline.

There were a massive amount of brine flies on the sand right near the waterline but they pretty much swarmed away from us as we scurried through to the water.

Definitely a little gross but they didn't bother us.

There was a little odor right at the shoreline but nothing too crazy as some have described.

It was really cool to float with our hands & feet above the surface of the water!! The water in the Great Salt Lake is 8 times saltier than the ocean. Be careful not to get the water in your eyes because it stings!

There were cold showers to wash off & also coin operated personal hot showers as well.

We also saw a Bison who crossed the road right in front of us.

Didn't have time to explore the entire island but many beautiful views.

We stopped in the visitor center & picked up a few small souvenirs to remember our visit.

In Utah there are 3 spots to see bisons - Antelope is one of them. As with wildlife, you never know but on the route on the eastside of the Island, we saw approx 150 of them - wow!
As well as some deer/antelope (could not determine what it was). A very beautiful park/Island with great views of the lake, surroundings and SLC. Worth the trip!
