We read the reviews and thought we'd try it. Here's our experience.
The environment is stark, bare concrete floor and brushed aluminum chairs. Highly conducive to echoing and noise distribution. Result: It was terribly noisy. In order to place the order, it was necessary to shout. Unless, of course, the girl at the counter was hard of hearing, but that wasn't the case because we had to lean over the counter to hear her also. This was not a good way to start our experience.
The history of the "founder" is in a huge display on one wall. It was interesting...
We ordered fountain drinks. The fountain was around the corner. It was cluttered and appeared to have been cleaned the day before, but certainly not that day. It did not suggest cleanliness was something on their mind. One one wondered what the kitchen looked like.
We were there as two couples. We each ordered a different kind of pizza and salad. One couple received salads in advance of the pizza. The other couple had to remind the server about its salads. The salads came out eventually. Disappointing
Two had the pear salads. They probably were able serve every salad that day and not use more than one pear. There were two pieces of pear in each of our salads.
The salad dressing, vinegar and oil was on one side of the salad, barely enough for that. There were a few extras dropped onto a bowl filled with lettuce. In a word: disappointing.
The pizzas were the only redeeming virtue. We had four kinds, three were great, the fourth was mostly cheese with miniature pieces of sausage. That one disappointed.
The prices were in fact very good, quite affordable. The reason they can charge such low prices is the lack of costly ingredients.
We love pizza and go quite a distance for good pizza. We will NOT return to this place, cheap or not.
