“Authentic Neapolitan Pizza”
Review of MidiCi

MidiCi
Ranked #56 of 246 Restaurants in Orem
Price range: US$ 7 - US$ 15
Description: YOU HAVEN’T HAD PIZZA UNTIL YOU’VE HAD NEAPOLITAN PIZZA. Neapolitan Pizza is the Original. The way Italians invented it 300 years ago. Neapolitan Pizza tells the story of Naples. During her summer vacation in Naples with the King, Queen Margherita was presented a pizza by a local pizzaiolo with tomato, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, and a touch of basil to represent the 3 colors of the new born Italian flag. She liked it so much that it was named in her honor. The classic Margherita was born. “La Marinara”, Italian for “the fisherman’s wife”. Wives who used to prepare pizza for their husbands as they returned from fishing in the bay of Naples. Tomato, garlic, oregano and olive oil were the ingredients of choice to make the pizza stay fresh. The classic Marinara was born. Over the centuries, Neapolitan Pizza has become an institution. Since 1998, its ingredients and method of preparation are protected by the Italian legislation. Neapolitan Pizza is the better pizza.

Skip all the Americana accoutrements. The reason to come here is for the authentic Margherita pizza a la Napoli. It is perfect and meets all the strict Italian food bureaucracy standards. One bite brought me back to my time in Naples. Oh, and the espresso machine was jazzy (same one the Pope has apparently). It’s a shame it will be seldom used in Utah county.

We went for pizza here 3 days ago and the minute we walked in I LOVED the atmosphere and the decor! The large copper ovens were unique and the table arrangements different but engaging.

We were with a group of 12 and all of our party got served except for one. She did not get her pizza, even after asking why, until the rest of us were done. She complained and asked if we could get a couple of complimentary desserts to share, for the inconvenience, and was told no, after the server checked with his manager. That was offensive to us all and she had hoped we’d all have something to be eating while she ate her pizza. No such luck. Also, no one came to offer a free pizza coupon, a pizza to take home. NOTHING in the way of customer service! With 12 people dining there, the management could have certainly been more gracious!

My other complaint was that though the pizza crust is yummy, there needs to be more sauce closer to the edge. It stops quite a ways from the edge AND is not very thick. We ordered a margarita pizza and a forest pizza......both delicious, but lacking sauce!

We thought the place was cute and unique, but not customer oriented and not the best pizza in town.

The thin crust pizza was excellent as was the Italian salad. Lots and lots of salad. The place and staff were dressed up letting you know you were in a special bistro. Didn’t try the gelato but it looked good. If you like dressed up pizza, you need to go. If any old pizza will do, this one will be a little expensive. I could see the younger generations taking dates here because it would definitely be a step above.

The atmosphere at Midici is nice and trendy. I love that they have a bar of condiments like olive oil, chili pepper, parmesan cheese and oregano. The pizza itself wasn't very impressive. It lacks sauce and doesn't meet the expectation of the price point. Service was also pretty poor, we had never been here before and didn't know how it worked or where to order and not a single employee greeted us or asked if we needed help. Overall, not impressed and don't see us returning.

Very tasty salads and pizza. Definitely unique with great flair. Pricing is very affordable. Great especially if you're a little short on time. On our "regular" list for sure now.
