My husband purchased some of their pastries at an event, and then we knew we had to take the road trip out to get more. He's a fan of the apple strudel, and my favorite is the chocolate croissant. Kamas is a bit off of the beaten path, but it's worth the drive out to have some lunch and pick up a tasty treat!

Since emigrating from Austria, Volker has transformed the bread scene in Summit County. You can't buy his bread in stores - you have to come out to Kamas or find it at a local festival. Wide variety - all of it good.

You will love all the varieties of bread choices. Made fresh daily. They also give you spread options to purchase and there some varieties you can only find at Volkers.

Stop on your way to your scenic drive to Mirror Lake, or your mountain cabin or outdoor camps.

We have bought Volkers bread at local farmers markets before. I had forgotten that Volker was located in Kamas.

When we went to the grocery store, we discovered Volkers bakery. It was around 7:00 p.m. and it was closed. So we returned the next day around 11:00 a.m. and it was open.

There was a sign that said Cash only, so I went across the street at the grocery store and withdrew cash from the ATM.

We bought German Rye, Jewish Rye, Walnut-Cranberry Bread, a Christmas Stollen, Marzipan pastry and a blueberry-cream cheese pastry.

All were delightful.

My wife spotted the cilantro dipping sauce and we purchased two bottles of the sauce.

All was such a wonderful experience. The salesman was oh so nice.
