We recently rented a boat from Skylite Rentals for 3 days to use on Lake Powell. Contrary to the pictures on their website, the boat was very beat up and had problems with the engine. When we called Skylite regarding this, they told us this is just the way the boat is. For $300+ a day, I would expect a boat that operates well and is not falling apart. Spend an extra couple dollars a day and rent from the marinas. Their boats are in much better repair.
We are sorry to hear of your disappointing experience with Skylite Rentals. We try our hardest to keep our boats in good condition but throughout the rental season, our boats collect a lot of fiberglass damage as well as tears in the upholstery. We do not have time to get all of the damages fixed during the season. Most of our cosmetic repairs (unless there are major damages) are made during the offseason which runs October thru April.
Any major damages, however, we do fix before we send the boat out again. We try to make sure that all of our equipment is safe. We do not knowingly send out faulty equipment. Any problems you had with the boat should have been addressed. In situations where there are issues with the boat, we will have it towed back in or have it brought in by the customer and a replacement vessel will be found. Unfortunately, it sounds as though you may have spoken with an inexperienced employee whom has since been replaced. Still, that is no excuse for your experience and we do offer a sincere apology.
