The rooms very very nicely done and brand new. They were stylish and each room had a private balcony. This was the only place that had a TV and it was a nice flat screen; if that matters to you. They had a small refrigerator and had glasses and wine opener; etc. They also line up 4 wheeling trips since they are an outdoor center. We didn`t do the 4 wheelers since it was rather pricey. They also had a fine fire pit right near our room and nobody was there at the fire pit except my friend and I. I`d highly suggest staying here. You are about 5 minutes from the best restaurants in Terllingua but there is a Mexican Restaurant next door. We went in too late one evening and they were just cleaning up. They were very nice and agreed to open it up just to feed us but we did not want to inconvenience them.

Room Tip: For two people ask for the room overlooking the burn pit; which is great in the evenings.

We stayed here while we visited Big Bend National Park. What a great place. It is about the size of a hotel room but it feels really spacious. The Casita was clean, comfortable, & adorably furnished. The porch was absolutely perfect after long hikes in the park! Terlingua nights are cool & stargazing was breathtaking. The morning coffee was delicious (and we are coffee snobs!). We are already planning a return visit.

The casitas are clean and comfortable and really cute. The grounds and outdoor sitting/picnic areas are really nice. Beautiful dessert landscaping. All the comforts of home. I enjoyed sitting on the back porch of our casita and watching the bunnies. We saw several different types of birds also. The casitas are close to Big Bend National Park so be sure to visit the park while you are here. We are already planning our next trip to Big Bend and the casitas! We didn't do any of the jeep/river tours that are offered by Far Flung Outdoor Center but we might do one on our next visit. Be sure to go to Terlingua and eat at the Starlight Theater too!

We booked a week at Far Flung Outdoor Center on the strength of TA reviews. The place is lovely and well kept. The cleaning staff is superb, BUT don't expect any help from the desk or have any problems that need attention.
Far Flung seems to be a place to book trips on the river etc and the Casitas seem to be an after thought. The staff at the front desk staff gave a clear message not to request anything. They gave you a printed sheet and that was that. When I went in to ask about the laudramat , they did not know for ex that you could not get soap their, wh is a problem when you are trying to wash clothes. They were at first not willing to give me change for the washers, suggesting that I go somewhere else.
There was no place to put our clothes in our Casita , #12 and my husband put some of his in one of the kitchen drawers. I called about this thinking it was rather strange and was told that that was the way it was.
Our TV was never working and the operations manager, Austen, came and was very gracious, unlike the other staff , but each day there was another problem. We called the after hours phone number but never got help

One of the nights they did not have a room and we had to shift to Big Bend Resorts down the road. That place is just a motel and not very well appointed, but the staff there was so nice and we felt way more comfortable asking them to refrigerate some of stuff even when we checked out; whereas Far Flung made it seem like a huge deal. It was an interesting contrast.

It is too bad that they don't value their customers because they have made a lovely oasis in the dessert.

Having been to Terlinqua and Big Bend before I believe I have the insight to say this is the nicest and cleanest place in the region. Great value for our family and would be wonderful for a couple getting away to Big Bend.

This is a very cool place with great activities onsite. The staff made us feel at home...really. Be sure to enjoy the outdoor fire pit in the evening and check out the little restaurant next door for authentic food.

Room Tip: All are nice with a few facing south at the back affording miles of views.
