Was visiting Dallas for a business dinner. Truluck's in Southlake is very close to the north entrance of DFW airport.
The restaurant specializes in all types of crab - especially stone crab. I am not much into cracking and removing crab meat, especially at a business dinner, but other options existed. I started with a crab cocktail (not on the menu, but available if you ask). The crab cocktail was almost a meal in itself. The cocktail sauce was a little spicy - too much horseradish for my taste, but you could avoid the cocktail sauce if you desired. The entrees were salmon and sea bass. Both were well presented and cooked nicely. Meat was well seasoned and moist. The highlight was the side of crab fried rice that we ordered for the table. A must repeat item.
I recently hosted a business dinner here for 4 associates. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter promptly took our drink orders and delivered menus. We ordered crab claws and tuna tartar for appetizers, which were both excellent. Then we all ordered steaks. Mine was a little overdone, but on the whole the beef was an excellent cut. I must admit, our waiter was outstanding: ever attentive, well trained, a true professional. Bravo! On the whole, an excellent evening, and a fine venue for a business dinner.
Excellent food, impeccable service. Lack of customer skills ruined our night and directly lead to our early departure from our mini respite. Never again shall I visit this restaurant. Our reservation was placed early in the week. Upon arrival the young man took us to a booth at the back of the place by the kitchen doors.I asked for one of the booths with a rounded seating space. He said they were all reserved...duh...hello I have a reservation made at the first of the week-this was a Friday I was attempting to get seated.
I asked what I did wrong with the reservation. It was a no brainer for me. I made a reservation and I want the same type of booth I had during my last visit. Again I was told all the booths were reserved. By now the general manager took over and sent the original young man packing.
I am a tall, large person and my wife said I was leaning forward and sounding
aggressive. She's probably correct.
This was a horrible experience. Ruined our little vacation. Will never happen again at Truluck's.
The GM did manage to find a booth for us to use - too little, too late.Never again.
One other thing, the "reserved" booths we wanted to use remained vacant during our meal.
If you are around the area i would say is probably the best choice, the place is very nice, excellent service, the food is delicious, we had the lobster tail and king crab and we love it. The lounge area is also very nice to stop for drinks. Make a reservation, apparently the place is always full.
