If possible, do not miss the collections at this Library. Beautiful displays of art and musicians -- and other visual delights.

This collection is on the 7th floor of the library. They also had an exhibit of unusual "pinhole" camera photos. There was an exhibit of photos about music and dance. It is well worth a visit and is free.

The Wittliff Collection is well worth your time to visit. I especially enjoy the Southwestern and Mexican Photography collection, but everyone enjoys the Lonesome Dove TV series collection. Be sure to check them out on their web site before your visit. Oh did I mention the Texas Music collection. There is much to warm your heart at the Wittliff. I've entertained house guests frequently by taking them to the Wittliff. And, I've only recently discovered their digital collection. I'm sure this digital collection will grow to become a resource for scholars.

The work is beautiful, but it's small--just a library floor. If you're bored on campus one day, give it a 30 minute walk through, but if you want a real museum go to San Antonio or Austin.

Being a life long Lonesome Dove aficionado, this place was a must. It was a bit hard to find in the Uni er site, and parking was a challenge. Ended up having to get a visitor's pass from a garage attendant from a small lot near the library. But if you love Lonesome Dove, you'll be in heaven. They only display a small amount of the collection at a time, but have original costumes, script sketches, props, and photos. It was so moving to see the original sign and even the long johns that Gus was wearing when he died! There are other fun exhibits at the museum, but it was all about Lonesome Dove for us.
